Greetings from a new member in South East Tennessee. I have been vaping for eight days and analog free for seven of those eight days. I purchased a starter kit with one ego 900 mah battery and one evod atomiser and have since purchased additional batteries and atomisers.

The experience has been very positive until today. The starter kit included a flavor of my choice and I got Root Beer 24 mg. Just finished it today and it was great. Based on reviews here and many other places I purchased five flavors from Mt. Baker Vapors. All are 80/20 PG/VG 24 mg. They arrived today and out of the mailbox only two were useable at all (candy cane and root beer float) and they were very weak with little flavor. The other three (peach rings, egg nog, and butter pecan) tasted horrible and you couldn't even identify the flavor that they were supposed to be (butter pecan tasted like extremely burn pecans).

I know about steeping so please tell me that they will taste better in a few days otherwise I guess I will have to purchase locally so I know what I am getting.

Sorry, didn't mean to rant on my first post but I want this to continue to be a good experience.

Welcome!

I'm fairly new myself so take this advice with a few more grains of salt than usual, but you could try "steeping" your liquids for a little bit before vaping them. I've been reading that each flavor combination might need so time to reach full potency. Seems like the generally accepted way to do this is store them in a warm, dry place for a day or two, or leave the caps off to let them breathe for about the same amount of time.

Thanks for the replies. I have the caps off now and am going to leave them that way for a couple of days. There are two local vape shops within 15 minutes of where I live so I think I will go by one of them tomorrow and buy enough to get me through a week or two and just let these rest. With all the excellent reviews Mt. Baker has to make some good juice.

Hi ut1205. I don't use the gear you do, so can't help with that, but you might be interested to know you just missed a vape meet in Chattanooga. They have them regularly. For what's going on in our area of TN, check out Smoky Mnt. Vapers Club. Vape meets are great places to learn about vape gear and try new flavors and meet fellow vapers.

Smoky Mnt. Vapers Club has a thread here, but you need 5 posts before you can post outside the new members area.

If you're up for a bit of a drive, the meet in Knoxville is very good. We've been to all of them and will be going this month, as well.

Happy vaping!

hey at least your first post was a rant about something different ;) most first time posters are ranting about how bad their vaping experience has been so far and there's gotta be something better than the [insert store bought cig-look-alike kit here]

I've only once bought from mt baker and I have to agree....they need to up their flavoring just a bit. But to each their own, everyone has different tastes...

hopefully over time your stuff tastes better....mine hasn't but it's all good I only bought from them as a base for my diy juices

if nothing else you can try to order the same flavors from another vender and mix the two together so not a complete waste and now have double the juice?!?

Also the burnt taste could just be bad wicking on your juice delivery system and not the actual juice's fault

Hey! Welcome to the board, fellow Tennessean ;)

So I am in almost the same boat as you -- maybe it's the degraded taste buds, but a lot of flavors I've come across just taste like nothing.

Here's a few that you might like, they are all bold flavors -- note that I don't like strong tobacco flavor, but if you do, everybody loves Boba's Bounty from avejuice:
"Unicorn Blood" by Fuzion Vapor -- super fruity punch like flavor ("Tastes like rainbows")
"Custard's Last Stand" by Nicoticket -- vanilla custard
"Papa Smurf" by Flavorz by Joe -- Berries and cream, reminds me of a red popsicle
"PV4" by Prime Vaping -- Their version of "RY4", a very popular flavor that tastes like caramel and vanilla with a touch of tobacco.

I really liked the Root Beer flavor I received with my starter kit. It was very sweet, a lot of flavor, and a fairly hard throat hit. Right now I need that hard throat hit to keep me off the analogs. I ordered 80/20 from MBV because I read that more PG=more flavor and throat hit. The Candy Cane has a light throat hit and the Root Beer Float none at all. I'm vaping the Root Beer right now and decided it taste like a burning tire.

welcome to the club ut

nice job getting an ego and evod your first time up to bat...

just thinking : wonder if you have "burnt" coil head inside evod giving you bad taste

did you get a spare '5 pack' so you can try another one...?

don't throw old ones away, you might start rebuilding in future

good luck VAPING and keep us informed on progress

I do have spare coils and changed with a new one. No change. I also started with a new one. Even removed it and did a dry burn on the coil and put it back in. No change. I have wire and wick ordered for diy rewinds.

OK, your all set then
sounds like you have it under control -- Good Luck

I was at Mountain Oak last Friday and tried some of their juices but didn't buy anything because I wasn't sure what nic level I needed. Going back there tomorrow. Do you know anything about the shop in East Ridge?

Yes, been there. Got a banana nut bread, and their store sample was better than the bottle, but I'm letting it settle to see if it improves. Didn't take time to sample everything, and that's what it would take since they don't have a menu posted on their FB page. MOV vanilla is better, and their cinnamon bun is way better than east ridge, IMHO.

WRT nic level, I'd say 18 for "smoke break" vaping, if you just vape a few times an hour to curb the cravings. 9 if you're going to glue the thing to your hand and hit it until it's dry.

I'm not actually a new member, but just stumbed across this thread. Just wanted to say Hi to those fellow Tennesseans out there. :toast: Does anyone know of any vaping events in middle Tennessee? Also, are there any other vapors living in the Murfreesboro area?

Cheers!

Middle TN Vapers group on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/midtnvapers/ -- lots of folks there, and you'll get all the event announcements and stuff.

And we're everywhere... the other day I was stopped at a light and the car next to me saw me vaping I guess, honked his horn, and waved his PV at me! ;)
