Hello, everyone.
Almost two months ago, a friend called to say that he and his wife had just discovered e-cigs (With nicotine! Here in Canada!) and after about a week of 'vaping' had become TRUE BELIEVERS. Pretty convincing testimony, it seemed to us. Like me, he had been a >2 pack-a-day smoker since ever, and like my wife, his girl was around the pack-a-day mark.
Now here we all are, and it's been at least six weeks since any of us lit a cigarette. It didn't take any willpower at all, even though my wife and I weren't primed & pumped to quit smoking. It was that simple: tried vaping, figured it might make an acceptable substitute for the real thing, and a couple of days into it were appalled to find how really lousy cigarettes taste. We still have a can and a half of tobacco (more than $100 worth up here in the Great White North) that we'll never use, along with a beautiful chrome plated Top-O-Matic cigarette machine, boxes of tubes, a handful of lighters etc. etc. The only leftovers we're likely to use now are the Ronson butane refills, for annealing Kanthal wire.
From Evods/Esmarts to VV/VW mods and RBAs and homebrewed e-liquids in only seven weeks. Still pinching ourselves.
To paraphrase (i.e. misquote) the Grateful Dead: "…what a short, strange trip it's been…"
