Just a quick first post to say hello.

I've smoked analogs for about 8 years (15-20 12mg per day). Increased taxes here mean I'm paying about AU$17 (about US$16) per packet of smokes, so I figured it was about time that something had to give. Initially I was looking to convert to pipe smoking, but I stumbled upon e-cigs in the wee small hours of last night, and before I knew it I had a starter kit on order!

I've tried to quit a few times, but my heart isn't really in it. In fact, my New Years Resolution for 2010 was to quit quitting! So this time around I'm trying not to put any pressure on myself. Whatever happens happens. If nothing else, I figure the potential benefits of the e-cigs will be:

a) Reducing/replacing the analogs
b) Cheaper
c) Healthier alternative (no tar etc)
d) Not smelling/tasting like an ashtray
e) Greater freedom in where I can vape

And if the change eventually leads to me quitting nicotine altogether, then all the better!

While I wait for the starter kit to get here (I ordered an Elusion, BTW) I'm reading up on this great forum. I've learned a lot in the first 24 hours already! I'll post more and ask some of my unanswered questions once I've had a chance to try the product out.

Gee... that's only 3,000km down the road from me. We'll have to get together for a beer!!!

Te he. It's amazing how quickly your idea of "a long way" changes if you move to the middle of nowhere. 12 months ago I thought an hour up the road to the next town was too far. Now anything less than 1000km is a reasonable "day trip". When your grocery shopping (including buying cigs) is a 4.5 hour round trip it gives you a bit of perspective!

Not that I'm saying Perth is the middle of nowhere...

If you ever have to drive to Sydney we're on the highway on your way. Contrary to popular belief we do have electricity, so I can keep your beer in the fridge 'till you get here :)

Sweet, I'm there!!!

I know what you mean. Moved here about a year ago from Sydney. But Perth is close to..umm..Perth and umm..North Perth and umm..well you know ...it's close...

Anyway, don't know much about the Elusion PV. I started with an eGo and that has served me well. Now have some larger batteries and a passthrough (PT). I also keep spares to backup my spares and always have a good supply of juice on hand. Mainly because Perth is so close to....well you know...

Organisation isn't really my strong point, but I'm thinking I'll need to stock up big/get better at planning if I'm going to make this thing work. Everything takes an age to get here- even from within Aus.

The Elusion is from NZ. From what I gather from the forum it's related to some of the other 2 piece systems out there. I'm a bit disappointed to find that not many people have heard of them. I guess that's what you get for doing your research *after* you buy! Hopefully it does what it says on the box, and I can post a review.

By their calculations I've ordered about 2 weeks worth of cartomizers. Should buy me some time to work out whether I like the e-cigs and order some more supplies. Fingers crossed I can get juice into the used cartos to make them a bit cheaper and longer lasting.

I'm also going to have to work out what I do about nicotine. I've ordered some 6mg nic cartos, but I'm a bit anxious about how they'll go through customs. Stupid Australian laws :( If they make it OK I might try continuing to push my luck, otherwise I'll have to move to 0mg and some sort of NRT. We'll see.
