I guess I can post in here now. Just want to say g'day to my fellow Canadians. I am a 50 year old semi-retired heavy duty mechanic with a 35 year old on again/off again, estranged and volitile relationship with tobacco. I saw the article in the National Post on E-cigs and figure it is about time to take the plunge. I have been hanging around here for a few days -- just poking around and learnin stuff. I guess it will be a while until I can PM folks eh? I wanted to get the suppliers list but can't PM yet... No biggie really. I'll just post like a madman until I can. I found a site called canvape and wondered if they are reliable? Or is even asking taboo? Sorry, new to this stuff... I tell ya, I am going to go down to Mark Strahl's office (my local mp) and chain myself across the can door until he brings a private member's motion to fully legalise vaping in Canada! If a drunk can get booze, or a doper can get drugs from the city of Vancouver, then a law abiding taxpayer should be able to buy an alternative to deadly cigarettes fer cryin out loud!

lol

Cheers! :toast:

...broke from buying new and exciting vaping gear maybe, but never bored

LOL! I see that it will not be hard to spend a bunch O dough on more of these gadgets. I am soooo looking forward to actually trying one! I tried those useless nicorette inhalers and found the damn things useless and a joke. The e-cigs look like just the ticket.

Have a blast Lori!

Welcome! You've come to a great place here! Tons to learn, lots of great advice and more than a few laughs to boot. You've made a great decision to enter the wonderful world of vaping and one I'm sure you won't regret. It might take a little time (and money) to find exactly the right equipment and the right juices that really work for you but any time you have any questions, this is certainly the place to come. And, yes, CanVapes is a totally reliable vendor with the best prices you will find anywhere. But then again I think you will find that pretty well all of our wonderful Canadian vendors are reliable, friendly, helpful. They are spread all across Canada including a few right here in our own backyard in BC. We have a great community.

Heh, been there, done that. Gum and those wretched inhalers. E-cigs worked where nothing else did, and worked shockingly well. Granted, it's not a smoking cessation product, but it turns out I don't give a crap because I like vaping and I know it's considerably less harmful, so I can do it relatively guilt-free.

And yeah, it can end up being pretty expensive if you let it. But the good thing is that at least that's something you're in control of. If all you want is something simple that works and gets you off cigarettes, then that's great and you can get away with going the cheap route. Or you can get hobbyist about it, buy a few different brands/mods, try your hand at DIY liquids, that sort of thing. Or you can go Full Throttle Vaping Tard (politely called "enthusiast") and chase after every new shiny that comes out. :)

I'm somewhere between hobbyist and tard. :D

Welcome!

E-cigs are so different from those inhalers. It's like night and day. I was a hard core smoker who tried everything including the kitchen sink and nothing worked. I wanted to quit I just couldn't. Until I started using the e-cig. It just gave me that something I was missing everytime I tried to quit.

I hope it's a great and fun experience for you too.

I'll be contacting canvape.com in the morning and taking the official plunge. I have a good idea what I am going to start with, and I will tell you all about it once it arrives. It is just plain weird that I am looking forward to trying these things so much. I really get the feeling I am going to go full "Tard" as Mindfield puts it. I have always been a sucker for electronic gadgets and the PV will be no different I'll bet. I'll likely wind up with dozens of them neatly arranged in their own special cases -- much like my special tools and other such things. Man, I am such a freak... lol

Cheers for all the great advice and help folks. I better sign off. The wind is howling here and we tend to lose power when it blows like this.

i actually quit smoking many years ago, bought a pv for my wife and mother and became infatuated with the whole tech of it (and the hit of the nic) and started vaping, some say i am crazy but i didnt quit smoking because i didnt enjoy it i did it because of the money and my health, the way i see it this is cheaper(after getting set up, and as long as i stay off the internet lol), it is healthier and i am happier, welcome to ECF :)

I hear you brother. I cut my tobacco use down to ~6 or so a day three years ago, but still find it way too pricey. I have been buying JPS for years and they are one of the most expensive butts on the market here. I figger if I spend a small bundle up front, and stick with the lower dose of nic (16mg) I should start saving dough after a year or so. But like you, the health thing is also high on my list of reasons. Even less than half a pack makes me hack and wheeze. My GP tells me my lungs are not the worst he has seen, but bad enough to make me think. Another reason is being able to vape in my shop. I banned smoking after too many near misses with fire, explosion etc, and will enjoy being able to give myself a jolt from time to time. Helps the brain cell fire better at high revs.

Cheers buddy! Happy camping!

That is a PV? Yikes. More like a tailpipe. :D I guy could put his eye out with one of those puppies, given the right amount of libation. Might come in handy during a bar fight though...
