Hello all,

I've been lurking around this forum for a few days. I finally broke down and ordered "Joye 510 no box" from cignot. I've actually quit smoking cold turkey for about a month, but now im finding myself starting to smoke 1 or 2 cigarettes time to time. As many of you would understand, it is a horrible feeling.. Kinda like you lost in a competition or something. But anyhow, i wanted to try the e-cig to help quit smoking analogs (it's funny how you guys call the real cigarettes "Analog", but makes perfect sense) completely.

As i understand it, there's good bit of cleaning and maintaining of the device involved in vaping, i have some questions before my 510 arrives:

Is there such thing as "overcharging" the battery? I plan to have the battery charged overnight, and was wondering if it could damage or shorten the battery's life by charging it too long. (This happened to my old cellphone..)

I see that many ppl change to different batteries. Is this normally because the battery dies? or because of upgrading reasons?

I understand that an atty doesn't last forever, but how long can i expect them to last if they are cleaned and maintained properly?

How do I know when it is finally time to get a new atty?

I apologize for bad English. I hope i can write like Dan Brown someday... Wish me luck! (on quitting..)

Thank you.

welcome!!

as a rule of thumb, you want to disconnect from the charger when the cycle is complete. that said, i've left mine in there for 24 hours without mishap (but i don't recommend that)

all batteries eventually die. most people switch for greater capacity (mine last at least all day).

i've gone two months and have lost 1 atty. when cleaning won't bring it back, its time.

i like bad english, wish i had seen them live.

Welcome Aboard!

1. Over charging batteries? Nope. The batteries screw into a charger. While it is charging the battery it has a red light. When the light turns green the battery will not allow the charger to charge it any more.

2. People changing to other batteries? I'll have to agree with Ejoker--they are just upgrading their equipment.

3. How long do atomizers last? Anywhere from one minute to six months. I have several here over five months old...others are only three months old....(I never clean them until they stop working).

4. How do you know when it's time to get a new atty? It will stop working. It will produce no vapor. -- when it starts making less and less vapor, or becomes harder and harder to draw the vapor into your mouth, THEN it's time to clean it.

Good luck on quiting!

most folks go trouble free for months on end. hope the same for you. I never have to bother cleaning the atties and have been running 3 months on my 510's trouble free.I have a bunch of batteries so never bothered putting on a bigger one, I like the lightweight of the originals

That's great to hear. Are you still on the original atty then? do you drip or use cartridges?

Thank you,

Just got my 510 from cignot, and it only took 2 days to get here. very nice.

So i just tried it for the first time and have another couple of questions:

I charged up the battery and blew on the threaded side of the atty a few times to get rid of the primer liquid, and then dropped a couple of liquid i purchased to lube it up. And then i put in the cartridge (with prefilled liquid) and did a few puffs without inhaling. So far no weird taste or anything. Am i doing it right?

I can hear that atty starts working as soon as i press the button on the battery. How long am i supposed to push the button before i start dragging?

How should i keep the 510 when i'm not smoking it? just lay it down? stand it up?

It sounds to me like you're doing it right! With my manuals I usually hold the button as I'm dragging and let up on it a second before I quit.

How do you like it so far?

For the most part it doesn't matter, unless you're having problems.

Standing it up with the battery side up will help prevent leaks when it's full, but can also help get more juice up out of the cartridge when it is much less full. My general rule of thumb therefore is to stand it up battery side up at first, leave it sideways most of the rest of the time, and turn it battery side down when it is running low.

But in the end, you might want to look into different fillers to use instead of what they come with.

Also, here is something that may help...

Dry atomizers, flooded atomizers, and wicking
Basically, you want to keep your atomizer happy with plenty of juice, but not too much as to flood it.

A good sign that it's flooded is that it gets a little harder to draw on and you get little or no vapor.
Flooding it, however, won't hurt it at all, and you can just blow out the extra juice.

Letting it get too dry, on the other hand, is not good for the atomizer supposedly.
But regardless of whether it is bad for the atomizer or not, you still don't want to do it.

You can tell it is too dry when it starts to taste like crap.
A nasty sort of burnt plastic type of taste.

One reason it might get too dry is if you burn through the juice faster than it can wick up more.
That is why people experiment with different kinds of filler materials to use in their cartridges.

If you take only a drag or two every now and then, you should be fine.
But if you use these like a cigarette, the wicking process will have trouble keeping up.
There are ways to deal with this, and people have different methods that work better for them.

And of course, when the cartridge is running low on juice, it needs topping off for this reason.

Oy. I am very satisfied with it so far. Just a little lightheaded probably because of the high nicotine juice it came with. And it is just so cool to play with.

Thank you for the info!

Thank you for the tips!

One question. How long would you say is a good wait time before each drag? 10 seconds? 20 seconds?
Unfortunately, I can't answer that question.

I use mine like a cigarette, and take about 10 drags in a row in a short period of time.
I will always have wicking issues using it that way.

I don't have any intention of waiting between drags when I'm on a smoke break.
:)

But I will say that I believe you can get at least 4-10 good drags off a well primed atomizer without it wicking up ANY more juice. That also depends very much on how hard you inhale and for how long. So if you only take a few drags and set it down for a good five minutes, your atomizer should be relativing ready for the next few drags.

These kinds of issues, again, are why people look into cartridge mods which use different filler materials for better and faster wicking. But some people probably never need to bother with that, as long as they only take a drag or two every now and then.
