Greetings! New ex-smoker member from NJ and a little bit about me

Whats up all? My names Ken (obviously you could tell that from my user name) but most people just call me Kenny and I'm a new ex-smoker turned cape addict from NJ. I smoked for over ten years and decided to quit at the beginning of this year. I was off to a good start up until last month when I got tired of smoking the same Logic brand e-cig from 711. I decided to order a 1100 ego-t to try out vaping to see if I liked it. Fast forward to now and I ditched the 1100, upgraded to a 1300 variable voltage (aqua vapor), a couple kanger tanks, a bunch of liquids, and a nemesis mech mod that I can't wait to try out as soon as my damn batteries get in! Needless to say, I love vaping and haven't missed cigarettes since. I'm also happy to say that I got one of my friends (who was a heavy smoker) to quit by giving him my 1100 and a few disposable tanks.

I hope to learn more about products and mechanical mods here, as well as everything else in-between. I've done a lot of research over the month so I wouldn't say I'm a complete n00b in the vaping game, but I'm by no means a complete expert. At least that physics class I took in college is coming in handy with the volts, resistance, wattage, ohms type stuff haha i

I look forward to meeting and talking with all of you and learning more about vaping!

Edit: Also, another small tidbit about me, I am a graduate from college with a degree in Public Health now working on my MPH (Masters of Public Health). I love vaping instead of smoking. I feel so much better not smoking 10 cigarettes a day, trying to workout or even walk and losing my breath quickly, and just having the overall feeling and knowing that I'm killing myself. I 100% support vaping as a way to quit smoking cigarettes, and even as a way to help lead off people who do not want to smoke anything at all. I also went from smoking 12 mg nic, down to 6mg nic, and even 4 mg nic if I could find it. I know its a little much to say, but I plan on helping and working on advocating the vaping community and vaping in general to help people stop smoking. Maybe not everyone will get into bigger mods or even eGo style chargers (although 711 now sells an NJoy 650 and liquid, which I must say the coffee one is pretty good), but even getting people to switch to a cigarette style battery one like the Logic or Blu is a great start. There are obviously lobbyists out there for the tobacco industry, thats a given, but I hope to one day help push through the beneficial effects of vaping to stop smoking, or at the bare minimum, help people who are serious about quitting and show them the benefits of vaping as an option.

Thank you all for reading my big essay/rant. TTYS!

Welcome to ECF and congratulations on giving up the cigarettes. I smoked for 46 years and have now been smoke free for over a year with vaping. Here is a great thread with lots of links for you to read up on battery safety and mechs and lots of other vaping related stuff to get you up to speed or to refer your friend to.

Lots to read and learn here. People here are very helpful and you can go broke trying all the new equipment and juices. Have fun!

Thank you! and thats great to hear you gave up after such a long time! I feel lucky I gave up after 10. Especially with that feeling in the morning that you just have to wake up and smoke a cigarette and have some nicotine to get your day rolling. Honestly, I couldn't believe it at first when I started vaping that it was actually working. That I could actually suppress my cravings and help kick a (huge) bad habit.

And thank you for that thread! will definitely read up on it.

Hello and welcome to the forum. Glad to have you here!:)

Question for you. What batteries are you waiting for (brand, mAh, amp draw).

Hello and thank you! Very happy and excited to be here! Definitely didn't think there was much to vaping when I first started out, if you asked me a month ago when I got the eGo I would have probably told you that was enough for me. Little did I know about the community and the hobby aspect of it and the fact that I could build something with the mechanicals that looks cool and performs great. Another about me tidbit is that one of my other favorite hobbies is working on cars. Not just performance, but cars in general interest me and how everything fits together and works. My dad was a mechanic back in the day and I had a wrench or screw driver in my hand for as long as I remember. I see hobby vaping and mech mods sort of like a car. The battery has to have good power, but the coils have to be tuned in correctly, and you have to use good liquid like 100% VG for the fuel. So no worries, I'm not going to be the person to just fire off a mech mod without checking everything 100% through so that theres less of chance if not any of something going wrong :thumb:

Im waiting on a set of Efast IMR Purple 18650's. They are 2100 mAh, 20 amp discharge, 30 amp max). I don't plan on building anything crazy to start honest, I just want to see how it works and learn a little more on building the coil. I have a multimeter to check the ohm with, but definitely not sub-ohming yet just to play it safe.

I ordered them last Friday so its actually not supposed to be here until Wednesday, but looking at this thing on my desk everyday makes me want to be able to use it bad. Almost tempted to go out and buy some batteries from the store and just pay the price haha.

Hi there, actually coil building isn't that hard, lots of youtube video. Get some tools ready like tweezers especially. For the wick, organic cotton is great and economical. Make a bunch and replace them every couple of days. if you get practiced, per cleaning the oil/changing the wick should only taken 5-10mins. Have fun with the rebuildables!

P.S Damn right about those physics classes. =)

A link for you to calculate how to build ur coil and how "hot" is your vape.

Hi Kenny and welcome to ECF. Sounds like you are off to a great start. Its great that you have done as much reading as you have so quickly. I'm sure you'll find this forum to be great source of information. Its full of nice people who are willing to answer most any question you will have. I smoked for 44 years and have not had a cig in over 6 months. I don't thin I could have done that without ECF. Good luck from a fellow Jersey guy.

Thank you for the link and yes they did! When I saw that volt/resistance calculation my jaw dropped and Im like "I learned that in physics not too long ago!" And thank you for that link!

Welcome to ECF! Sounds like you have done your share of research. Congrats and stay safe.

Thank You very much and yes a lot of research! I try to do as much research as possible before making purchases. Definitely could be considered my new favorite hobby with the time I put into it so far haha
