Hi everyone. I was referred to this forum by my girlfriend. She's always been one step ahead of me as far as keeping up with e-cig technologies. In 2011 she bought me a Blu that only really helped me cut back on smoking cigarettes, and not quitting.

Then I took a break from the blu and tried The Magma which did pretty much the same- helped me cut back, but not quit. Then I gave that up and went back to cigarettes. By January of 2013 I was at a 12 year habit that lead me to consume a pack and a half of cigarettes per day.

I found that once I got off the e-cig I smoked more. Because I had become accustomed to constantly having something to puff on. My girlfriend got some Ego-C Twists maybe 5 months ago and was able to re-quit her habit of smoking again, sampling various tanks to use on top of the variable 1000mah. At the time it worked like a charm for her. I tried it a few times and knew that this would be more reliable if I were to attempt quitting again.

I was happy to have a few long lasting batteries and some reliable tanks. I quit on Valentines day, so that makes it about 3 months since I stopped smoking real tobacco. I kept a counter on my phone, but I rarely check it, because honestly I don't care about cigarettes any more. After the first week on the Egos, cigarettes started to become less appealing. Later on I've attempted to give one a go to see how it compares up to my new found comfort zone with my e-cig. I was pretty confident it wouldn't rekindle a burning desire for cigarettes and that I would cave in right then and there and go buy a pack. The couple of times I've tried cigarettes since quitting I've always found them to taste nasty and unsatisfying and I put them out early and start puffing on my E-cig.

My girlfriend has since moved onto the Provairi from the ego Twists. Which luckily for me, left me with a few spare parts to add to my case to further ensure I never run out of stuff when on the go. I do believe I'll eventually graduate to the Provairi. But to be honest, until all my batteries are dead and broken I'm pretty comfortable with my set up at the moment. 3 months clean and no regrets.

It seems I went through a learning process while experimenting with different e-cigs. I've constantly wound up learning of the next best thing through my girlfriend testing them out and then buying it. Just like in any market, there will always be the latest and greatest, followed by the next best thing. ;) Part of me feels like I've wasted money along the way and should have just shot for top of the line. But another part of me doesn't mind having hands on experience with the various designs and approaches toward the idea of such a device.

About 3 weeks ago I got a position at a local Vape shop here where we live in Central Florida. It's fun helping people find what's right for them. It's a lot to learn and I still have much to learn. I still am in the training process, but I thoroughly enjoy it. It feels like a rewarding job in a way. To me the most inspirational are the older customers. There are folks who are around 55 years old, smoked cigarettes for 25-40 years and are totally in love with electronic cigarettes and are return customers that are there for their juices. I just think that if it can help someone who had an addiction for SO long, then it really is something special. I'm 27 years old and at 26 I had given up on the idea of smoking cigarettes, I basically subscribed to them, accepting that they will always be a vice and will wind up hurting me most likely. That was only a 12 year habit I had, and when I found the right set up, it was like a switch and I haven't turned back. I really believe that anyone who enjoys smoking can enjoy vaping as long as they find a set up that's to their standards of what they need. And then from there, before they know it, they'd be off of cigarettes.

Sorry for such a long post, just wanted to share my story of how I was led to join this forum and the whole entire vaping culture up until now. I live in Central FL and I'm a total music nut, music is the pulse that keeps me alive. I attempt to play music from time to time and try to teach myself how to record something original. I like to attend live shows in downtown Orlando whenever musicians I follow are coming through. My main hobby and passion is in art. I mostly do ink work of abstract patterns, designs, and mandalas. I live with my girlfriend & our 3 dogs. I look forward to interacting with this community. :) Thanks for reading.

Hello and Welcome!!

Glad to read you've been off cigs for 3 months...That's GREAT!! I'm slowly climbing up to two months myself. Just a word of warning...this place is very addictive..you'll stop in, thinking for just a little light reading, and next thing you know, you've been here for a hour...if not more!

Make yourself at home!!

Welcome to the forum, Amster Dan, and so glad you found your comfort zone in vaping. And I don't think you wasted any money if it ultimately led you to quitting cigs. I smoked 30 years and its the only thing that worked for me. I wish they had them around when I was your age. It's a true blessing to not have smoked 30 years. Keep with it and if you ever get to where you aren't being satisfied, try something else, switch it up, do whatever you need to do but don't go back to cigs and let them kill you.

Welcome Amster Dan. It is fun and almost like a free hobby when you think about all the money you're not spending on cigs, even more so if you DIY your own juice for like $3 per 30 ml :)

Thanks for the welcome everybody. :) So quick to respond!
I do find it quite the fun hobby. And lately I've just been reading up on them as much as I can. Working at a E-cig store, I tend to probably spend a little more because I'm tempted to experiment with a new item or one I haven't tried yet when it's in front of me at a reasonable price. I always search around for the best price before making a purchase. So far in my 3 months I've probably spent a little more or about the same as I would have with cigarettes. It took a lot of trials with different tanks and sifting through various flavors seeking out the ones I'll stick to. I do believe it will eventually balance out to a point where I'm finally saving loads of money. But for now I guess my main concern is making sure I have enough of what I need to prevent me from experiencing any downtime whatsoever.

DIY juice is something I have still yet to research. Been more focused on the devices and the features, especially since that's what I'm learning at work currently. I do look forward to getting into DIY because I'm confident I'll be able to make something ideal for my palate. A price example like that surely makes it something I should hop onto the bandwagon of though!

lilmrsyeti - Congrats on almost conquering two months. For me it was pretty easy. The first week I was cranky but after that it was smooth sailing. I'm sure everyone is different. And I did have some previous experience with smaller models first.
And thanks for the warning. I'm already a forum junkie since 2000. Been modding, posting, lurking on various forums. This looks like a good one to get addicted to. :)

I've been reading all of the rules and checking important threads since I'm not really able to post elsewhere yet until my 5 posts. I just read about the 3 distinctive styles of E-cigs. The thread had them listed and defined. It's funny, I had formed that categorization in my head before hand just from being around them and using with them.
It's an awesome technology to watch evolve.

Hey, Amster Dan! With PVs, I was also able to take off running without looking back. Before I even got my PV, I already knew it would work. My better half was skeptical and I am sure to him (a non-smoker) I sounded a bit naive, like I had found some "magical" device that would solve a 20+ year addiction. Well, now he is a believer and he asks me to try to turn some of his buddies on to it.

I knew it would work because I had quit with a nicotine inhaler in the past. They were kind of awful. They looked a bit like plastic tampon applicators, tasted medicinal, hurt my throat, had no vapor and worst of all, required a doctor's prescription ($$$). Still, the combination of hand, mouth, and nicotine worked for me, until the prescription ran out. I couldn't afford to keep it up without insurance.

When I learned about ecigs (way too late) I knew they would be a million times better than those inhalers, so I knew it would work for me.

Anyway, I would love to work in a vape shop. I absolutely think vaping is life-changing in the most awesome way. After I got mine, I was uncharacteristically happy for a couple of weeks, walking around smiling incessantly. I felt victorious and the feeling was almost euphoric for me.

Anyway, welcome!

Awesome story. It's better late than never. Something was telling me they WOULD be the answer in the back of my head as well.
Thank you for the welcome. :)

And once I was tuned into e-cigs with a comfortable set up I was glowing with confidence. I just felt all around better about myself. That's why I'm glad to be working at a shop right now. I'm ultra enthusiastic about it and I love meeting people and hearing their stories. It's gratifying to point something into the direction of their first starter kit after conversing with them and getting them informed on how to operate it as well. Everyone is always friendly, it's equally as fun to watch someone get very excited over an upgraded tank they're about to switch over to. It's very different from any other job I've had.

I have a couple of questions for you all concerning the rules.

Quoted out of the Forum Rules thread:
a. Your details: we require a Location (your present country of residence) and your Birthdate

A rule is a rule, I understand that. Is it a strictly enforced rule? Should I be removing my location that is said in jest and switch over to an official location to abide by the forum guidelines? I've noticed everyone in this thread so far has their location listed as where they're from. I suppose I should go ahead and change it for now. But it would still be nice to get some clarification for future reference.

Also from the rules thread;
24. Affiliate Advertising
a. Affiliate advertising is not allowed on ECF forums, either directly or indirectly. This includes, but is not limited to, affiliate links, discount codes with an affiliate code, or clickable signature banners.
b. Links to external web pages with affiliate codes/links/banners are not allowed except where an agreed exemption is granted to Registered Reviewers or similar.

Would this mean I wouldn't be able to link people or tell people what e-cig store I work for? I didn't sign up to use ECF to advertise my workplace at all. But is it totally against the rules to even mention the name? Or is it only if you direct someone to their online store via link?
I just don't think I fully understand that particular rule all the way yet.

Hmmm, I guess I forgot some of those rules. Lol. I'm thinking maybe they mean that for spammers because people do put links to things in here. But I think it's frowned upon if you spam a particular vendor alot maybe? As far as location, I have seen people put "anywhere" or "out of this world" and stuff like that, so who knows. Having a basic location stated does help others guide you better to people in your area that might be able to help you at times though such as storefronts etc.
