Here is my simple story...
I am a 46yo that was almost a PAD for 20 years. I have tried quitting several times, cold turkey, patch or gum with no success. My smoking was a point of major contention between my wife and I pretty since the beginning. I knew it was a very unhealthy habit to have and could never get the will power to completely over come it. I have also battled depression for 8 years now, and smoking was always a crutch I leaned heavily on.
Then when Minnesota decided to add another $1.60 per pack tax this past July I knew it was time to finally quit. After days of Googling, consulting with a friend that quit almost a year ago and then finding this wonderful site I took the plunge and got a starter set to try this "vaping" thing I was reading about. As of this posting I am now 13 days and 8 hours analog free and have absolutely no desire to go back.
For me the initial hard part was finding a liquid I liked. Ended up with a nice sweet berry flavor (complements my Mountain Dew habit nicely) with a 15mg strength. My goal is go to 10, then 5 and finally to 0 nicotine in the coming weeks/months. Will I quit vaping after that? I don't know.
On the truly positive side, I noticed with days the ability to breath easier, experiences more tastes and able to smell better. My wife and I went for a walk one evening and I commented "somebody is running their dryer" and she asked me how I could tell? "Just smell!" Then a block later "somebody is cooking bacon", she replied "I don't smell it". Oh the wonderful smells!
