Good luck and welcome. You should have no problems quitting using the e-cig. I was a pack+ a day smoker for 10 years, and have tried every other method and this not only worked, it was really easy. The first 3 days of having my e-cig, i probally smoked about 4 analogs, and by the fourth day, i was completly off them.

Congratulations!! You will be amazed how easy the ecig makes it if you're tried to quit using other methods. I got my starter kit on Friday and have only had one cigarette since then...and threw half of that one away. Never thought after smoking 40+ years, it could be so easy to stop. You're gonna wonder why you've waited so long!

OT alert:
the guitar was pieced together from different parts that i could get. it cost me about $350 in parts to make, and about 2 weeks of labor (mostly just waiting for parts).

body is from a cheap LP knockoff. got it as a base because it had a bolt on neck (easier to switch out than a set neck). plugged up the holes for one of the knobs and the pickup switch and rewired to have a master volume and master tone.

neck is an EDEN neck from china. got it with a blank paddle headstock that i shaped out and cut the slots into. wanted a LP style guitar with a maple neck.

bought most of the other hardware from guitar fetish. the pickups are MEAN90 humbucker sized P90 pickups.

so all in all i have the best of both worlds in this franken-guitar. carved top, angled neck, 25.5" scale, classical style headstock, and overwound single coil goodness. but now i just need to find someone that will actually build this guitar for me. this one is great and i gig with it, but its kinda like dropping an RX7 rotary motor in a civic.

I hope you are successful with the kit you bought. However:

Rule of Thumb: the more it looks like the real thing, the worse the performance.

If you find your new PV (personal vaporizer) is inconsistent and not getting the job done, then I would suggest getting a good manual (small button) device that is much more consistent, lasts much longer and holds up better. For a new user, I would suggest getting an "eGo" type PV which is a 510 model with a much better battery. Also, use blank carts and refill them with an e-liquid you like. You will find it costs much less and tastes much better.

Good Luck

good luck, and stick to it! iam with wv2win i too started with a model that looked like a real cig and didnt really help in the smoking realism, look like one but thats it. start with a high nic count 24mg to keep that urge satisfied or you will cheat and start smoking analogs again. the whole e cig hard to keep up as you need to charge and refill and analogs are so much easyier to deal with but keep on it and you will quit. iam having the best with my joye ego doesnt look to much like the real thing but performs like it and the battery life is bar none which makes it easyier to enjoy away from home.

It seems that the pattern is pretty predictable. When you start you want something that looks like an analog and tobacco tasting juice. Then you move to an ego with RY4 and cartomizers. By the time your done, your dripping mango berry waffle on a mod with an 18650 battery and low res atomizers. The advice about the high nic is a good one at least to have in the morning.

The ego or tornado batteries will last nearly all day. Then all you have to deal with is keeping the "condom" stuck to your juice bottle with a rubber band so you can keep refilling it. There are bigger carts (I just made a pill fob one). Just read everything you can on these forums and you're learning curve will be cut really short.

Go with an eGo or Riva. You will venture into a whole new realm with either model. Get several small bottles of various flavors to try out. I would start with at least a bottle or two of 24mg. Maybe get one bottle of 30-36mg for the really bad cravings. An assortment of flavors will help to find the one that suits your tastes.

Your right wv2win. The kit I got isnt quite doing it. It works ok and gets me through most of my cravings but I find when the cravings get bad its just not doing it. Time to start searching for an upgrade!! You think the "ego" 510 is the best way to go?

For someone new, yeah, I always recommend the eGo 510 and 24mg liquid. If you find a flavor you like, get it in 24mg and also a lower mg strength. Then if you find the 24 is too strong, you can water it down, strength wise.

Most newbies don't want to consider a bigger mod type PV but to be honest many of us vape using a 5 volt mod type PV because is gives us better throat hit (warmer vapor) which better simulates the "inhaled" feel of an analog. I could never completely switch to vaping until I got a good 5 volt mod. The eGo and all the smaller PV's are 3.7 volts but the eGo's better battery allows the user to vape much longer before changing batteries. If you are interested, you may want to do some research on 5 volt mods. These mods also have batteries that last 5-8 hours and the batteries only cost about $3.00, which is a nice advantage. I think these two sites provide two of the better 5 volt mods:

Electronic Cigarettes and E-Liquid - Great Lakes Vapor

Box Mods

This site summerizes both 3.7 volt and 5 volt mods:

Best e-Cig Mod List | e-Cig Mods Database

Hope this helps. Good Luck

Try not to give in yet. Remember that if you had switched to an ultra-light cigarette it would take you days to get used to it. It will also help if you start refilling your cartomizers with a juice that tastes closer to what you're used to smoking. I experimented with my ecig for a couple weeks trying different juices, and when I switched over to it exclusively it was an easy transition. The first 3 days will be the most frustrating for you.
