Greetings and salutations!

I've lurked on here for a really really really long time and I finally decided to say hello and of course ask a question.

I've been vaping for about 5 years now. I was an closet smoker for years before that and "hid" it from my family after my first child was born. Yes, that is in quotes because I obviously fooled no one anywhere at any time. My wonderful wife looked at me like the gargantuan idiot I was every time I told her I was, "just around other smokers". Eventually I owned up to it and talked to her about the uber expensive new stuff I saw people using at the mall (yes, it was that long ago). I tested them and looked them over, but being a long time web user and tech guy I knew that there should be other options with increased quality at greatly reduced prices somewhere online. That is actually when I found this forum and started reading. Then I did some more reading and when I was done with all of that I read some more.

I started of with the imitation cigarette Kr808 models from various vendors (many of which I found here). They worked, as well as they did, and I finally put down cigarettes for good. I ended up going through a couple dozen batteries and was finally fed up with them. So, I started my reading anew. This is about the time I found 2 things that really changed my vaping for the better. The first was the KGO and the second was Hoosier E-Cig. I was thrilled with the KGO right off the bat. Long, at the time, battery life and better performance with higher capacity ego cartomizers were a winning combination for me. Hoosier was also a huge win in my book. Great customer service and a nice selection of juice as well as gear. I ended up with a total of 9 different KGOs (over time) from hoosier along with 3 chargers and God only knows how many cartos.

I've progressed little by little over the past few years and I'm now up to a pretty great setup that works well, for the most part. I currently have 2 Eleaf iStick 50s that I switch back and forth on. They've been very solid for me and were a nice upgrade from the Innokin MVP 2 that I was previously using. The battery life is fantastic and each of the iSticks will last just about the whole day. I've combined those with a Triton 1 and 2 tank using 1.8 ohm coils. I know there are more than a few people saying 1.8? What is wrong with this guy? Well, that is where I run into trouble in the vaping world. I am a mouth to lung inhaler.

Now, you don't have to snatch your kids away from me or lock your doors. The gasps and strange looks are fine, but a little off putting. This is just the way I have always vaped. Coming from cartomizers for so many years I am used to a tighter draw and throat hit. I switched to tanks, which took a bit of time and I always felt I was losing something with each change. I either lost throat hit, taste or proper draw with each variation I tried. I went from cartomizers to the Smoke Tech Aro Tanks which worked well for me even on the MVP. Then when I switched to the iStick I gave up on throat hit and made the full jump into tanks. I tried a bunch of them and the Nautilis worked really well for me, especially at around 17 watts. The only problem is that I would burn through coils like crazy. Then I found the Triton and I've been using it with the 1.8 ohm coils at around 13 to 14 watts (5.1 volts). My iSticks always reads the coils as being around 2 ohms for some reason. I would love to move to 1 or 1.2 ohm or even get into the sub ohm tanks, but everything I try is just so airy I don't get a sense that I am even doing anything. I gave up throat hit, I just get into such an airy draw.

So, what I am looking for is something that will work well for a mouth to lung inhaler. I like the iSticks I have, but I'm open to trying a new device. The only catch there is that I do want VV or VW with a built in battery. I've tried the battery swapping and it isn't for me. I need something I can just charge and go with. Then I need a good tank for a mouth inhaler. Something that won't be so airy. I was looking on Eleaf's site and noticed that they recommend the iStick TC40W with GS-Tank for mouth inhalers, but I'm not seeing anyone who sells the tank or anyone who has even tried it. I haven't been keeping up with the new temp control stuff so not sure if that is my best option either. I guess I am trying to take some of the guess work out of it this time around.

I guess I should also say that I vape Hoosier's house brand eliquid 60/40 12 mg Mountain Dew flavor. It has become my all time favorite flavor and I burn through about 8 to 12 ml of it a day.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Hello and welcome to the forum @Murphy'sMagnet. Glad to have you here!:)

Regarding the term "Tootle Puffer" => Low wattage, high Ω, tight draw
GS-Tank for mouth inhalers
The GS Air Series of tanks are very popular for M2L.
  • Eleaf GS Air
  • Eleaf GS Air M
  • Eleaf GS Air MS
  • GS Tank
The GS Air M is the largest-capacity Air. The new kid on the block, the GS Tank, is only 3 ml but 22 mm in diameter.

Tanks & coils are inexpensive (~$10). Two different Kanthal coils: 1.5Ω (8-20 watts) & 1.2Ω (8-30 watts). Both are dual coils.

Sweet-Vapes (great vendor) carries them.
I haven't been keeping up with the new temp control stuff so not sure if that is my best option either. I guess I am trying to take some of the guess work out of it this time around.

I'm stocking up for the apocalypse in the UK.
Part of my plan is to branch out into eleaf tank territory. (unintended pun.. )
With this in mind, I am too thinking of the 22mm GS tank. I shall buy one (somewhere, maybe local) and test it out. If it's any good, then I can see me ordering a large shipment (50? 100?) of the coil heads from China.
Sadly, as much as I like the idea of Sweet Vapes (they seem to have it spot on, don't they?) ordering from the US is too tricky.

Any info on this tank and the quality of vape (probably up to 15 watts) would be ever so helpful.

Given your juice consumption @Murphy'sMagnet you might not get long coil life.

Such a shame. I finally found something that is better than smoking in every way imaginable, but it appears I found it a little too late.

All hope is not lost. *People* (not sure who yet) will find work-arounds to the issues.
The problem for you is a bad policy already by your government.
I/we could live with small tanks if necessary. It's the cull on the liquids that is most scary. It'll be interesting (understatement) to see where the liquid market goes. If the right players stay in the market, we are in with a chance. My worry for the UK is that tobacco will take over completely and double or triple the price of liquid because they can and they will do this on the back of "sensible" regulations.
BLU are at the heart of this, and as I've said, I will never use their products for what they are doing to Europe (72,000,000 people) by supporting the Tobacco products directive. (TPD EU 2014)
They are the only company to actively support harsh regulation. They are in it for the money. It makes me sick to the core to read their stuff on facebook and twitter. Just how evil can you get to present a smiley face and tell people how wonderful you are when secretly you have few plans to encourage refillable systems?
I don't know about Totally Wicked and Liberty Flights. I have some sympathy (a lot actually) for TW, but Liberty are in the sights of many of us (we boycott them) for what they did to Australian Vapers not so long ago.

History will tell some interesting stories. People seem to steer away from the politics and just get on an vape. The problem was that expansion was so massive that certain brands just took advantage from day one. The internet itself is skewed already to the brands that play dirty and have the money to do so.
This is about saving lives. A brand or vendor can be 'true to the cause' and still make money.
So - I don't like many of the key companies in the vape industry but we just need one or two of them to come through and jump the hurdles the governments are putting in our way. Otherwise, tobacco will win. Then it's game over... single use, non-refillable, back to the old days of 1 cartomizer = 40 cigarettes.

Ooh, I have to find out what happened there.
Can you take stress? If not, don't go there.
They lost a lot of support in the UK. But, they couldn't have cared less and weasled out of it by claiming international franchises are not one big business. Right... and I'm Shane Warne.

I think you'll like the GS Air tanks, they're well thought of. And no need to hide about being MTL. Our tootle puffers are actually pretty militant :) For a mod, if you like your iSticks, stick with them. If you're looking for a switch, look at a Cool Fire 4. One caveat: if you're worried about Vapocalypse, I wouldn't be doing fixed battery mods, unless you buy a lot of them for stash. Batteries are the weakest link in the chain, so many charge cycles, and they're toast. The problem with fixed battery mods is once that happens, the mod is gone too. Just a thought.
