Gripper (non VV)

Hi all. I just sent the following email to Eric, then realized it may save him some trouble if I posted it here also. Has anyone used this Gripper and (if so) had a similar problem?

If anyone has any insight as to my challenge, I'm all ears.

Eric - I'm stuck. I've tried everything I can think of and there's simply no way for me to make L'il Gripper fire. I',m pretty sure that know what the issue is - the battery drops down from the top, just enough to not make connection. IF I'm using the correct batteries, then it feels like there should be a spring inside the (bottom) cap (there is none). Check out the pic below. Does it look like everything is proper to you?

The batteries are the ones I just bought from you. AW IMR 18350 3.7v 700mAh. Markings underneath read, "CE RoHS". I've tried inserting them both ways, neither works.

UPDATE. To nobody's surprise, Eric got back to me in less time than it takes to sneeze. I'm all set - thanks (particularly to Eric).

either you were missing the spring in the end cap. or maybe you could of tried rare earth magnets to fill the gap

I really only picked it up as a novelty/curiosity. I tacked it on to an order for the VV Gripper (which I love!). So I'll probably end up playing with it for a week or so, then PIF'ing it to a friend. But it's just one of those things that I HAD to try. If it was any more than the $15 I paid for it, I probably wouldn't have done it. But since I spent more than that on smokes, per DAY --- what the heck?

Well...I know for sure that I love my non variable voltage Gripper from DV!! It's great!
