While in the grocery store this afternoon (pre-snow storm in the south...gotta get the bread and milk) looking in the case for an organic chicken when suddenly I could smell something. Something bad. Cigarette smoke. The man near me smelled like cigarettes! After two weeks of no stinkies for the first time in my adult life i could smell cigarettes on someone! While dancing a little dance on the inside I still couldn't just let it go at that. So I made eye contact with the man whose wife was by his side and asked "Do you smoke?" (Holy cow, did I really just do that?) So I excitedly explained that I quit two weeks ago and this was the very first time I could smell cigarette smoke. Next thing ya know I'm pulling out my e-cig right there at the chicken counter explaining with much exuberance what a miracle it all was. Luckily, they didn't immediately dial 911 or call security but were actually very happy for me and full of curious questions. The best I could offer them was directions to this forum. I told them that they could find all the info they wanted and a wonderful group of supportive people. I'm sorry I didn't tell them to go to a local shop but if you do show up here, nice grocery store couple, Welcome! And thank you for not considering me a danger to myself or others.

I think that's great! You could be the reason for a couple more converts.:thumb:

Of course when you mentioned 'southern snow' I had to check the weather channel. Yes, looks like we'll get a dusting this evening and Thursday. I'll go to the store tomorrow, just because I need to.

My son always asked " Why bread and milk? Are they making 'milk sandwiches'?"

HaHa - I'm in the South too (South Carolina) so I know what you mean about the rush to the grocery store when snow is predicted. (Heck, I'll probably go myself in a little bit.) But for those not in the South, the traditional 'pre-snow' shopping list consists of milk, bread, *and eggs*. That's so you can make French Toast. (Don't ask me why but that's the tradition.)

Anyway, back to the OP - good for you!

The first time I actually smelled tobacco smoke on someone I was horrified - did I really used to smell like that????

I discovered that the first time I "quit" smoking. I had been using lozenges for about two weeks and ended up getting in an elevator with someone who was returning from their break. Man they reeked of smoke.

When I started back up, I found that I could mitigate the smell quite a lot by thoroughly washing my hands and face immediately after a break. It wasn't 100% but the people I asked about it, said it helped a lot.

I'm in the Greenville kinda area myself. When I saw the storm coming I thought " crap what if we loose power... How many fully charged batteries do I have again?" And from years spent at Publix I can vouch for upstate ppl going a bit nuts at winter weather. To be fair, most northerners don't understand our snow almost immediately turns to ice, and because it's so rare we don't have proper equip to clear the roads. Congrats on sharing your knowledge and seeing the benefits of vaping!

I am here to tell you nothing is worse than sitting in a house, in Houston, in August, for two weeks or more, with no electricity. Thank goodness I have a generator to keep my refrigerator and some fans going. Which does mean I can charge batteries too the next time.

It's what's for dinner tonight ;)
And with.......... BACON

As a bonus, Bacon smells even better after quitting!

That should be on a billboard....."Vaping, it makes bacon taste better." Vaping would increase ten fold. :)
