I'm in the Greenville kinda area myself. When I saw the storm coming I thought " crap what if we loose power... How many fully charged batteries do I have again?" And from years spent at Publix I can vouch for upstate ppl going a bit nuts at winter weather. To be fair, most northerners don't understand our snow almost immediately turns to ice, and because it's so rare we don't have proper equip to clear the roads. Congrats on sharing your knowledge and seeing the benefits of vaping!

Actually, most of us northerners do understand, but that doesn't mean that it isn't fun to giggle...:D

I'm a northerner who's been in the south for like 15 years now. I agree that northerners DO understand, but I think they forget the first snow day each year pretty quickly. On the first day the roads are always messed up even in cities/towns with good road equipment & cars with winter tires. By afternoon they get straightened out (at least in MT they did) but 1st thing in the morning they were always a little bit messy.

But in southern states EVERY snow is the 1st day of snow & no one has winter tires/chains. So it's a huge deal down here. This last fiasco with snow down here in ATL has everyone in my area on edge. There was no bread to buy when I went shopping (didn't need it so no biggie lol) & the bottled water was also gone.

Why buy bottled water if the reason you can't get to the store is snow? Just collect some snow in a cup, bring it inside and wait a few minutes.

I got some flannel sheets for Christmas. They have been sitting around still in their packaging ever since. The other night I thought--oh it is so cold, I am going to get those flannel sheets out. Opened the package and the reeked of smoke. UGH.

Purses, backpacks & luggage, paperwork, even shoes!! lol That crap gets everywhere

I moved south 14 years ago to avoid the cold and snow but we get it so infrequently here it's almost nostalgic. So much easier to enjoy when it lasts for a matter of days instead of months.

Good job to the OP on informing someone. Seems down here, that's not an easy feat sometimes. Most, with me, seem to snub their nose like it's just to complicated for them and they don't want the hassle. Not all people, but enough.

On a side note...

You know... I am a recent relocater to the south from Ohio. Can someone, anyone, please give me this recipe using Milk, Bread, eggs, and toilet paper? I just can't seem to find anything using just those ingredients no matter how hard I Google. LoL.

Well here in the *REAL* South...:p...Houston, TX snow is extremely rare and when we do get it, it does not last long. So we don't even bother with pre-storm shopping. We only do that for Hurricanes and the first things to go are going to be bottled water, batteries, and plywood.

Our pre hurricane shopping here in Louisiana we add Toilet paper to your list ;)

We are much the same. We have had snow twice in the last 2 weeks or so and got ice last night. FOr us that is unheard of.

Haha that's awesome! I've only initiated a conversation with one person that I didn't know, because there was a lady in front of me at the register buying Blu cartos, so I showed her the ego I had on me and gave her an ECF card and a CASAA card after explaining about it and all the other, better, flavors she could use. I hope the people you talked to find their way here, or somewhere, and at least consider the switch. If not, well at least they didn't run away screaming for help :)

I've always been able to smell smoke on people, unless they only smoked very lightly and rarely. I smell it on my husband all the time, but there was a guy at Walmart a few weeks ago who reeked of cigarettes from almost 10 feet away. I don't know how a person could have that much smoke smell on them and still be able to breathe at all  I've been around plenty of up to 2.5 PAD smokers, and none of them smelled even close to as smokey as that guy.

This is so true. This year has been a weird year here in GA where snow is concerned. I've had enough of it. Every freakin threat closes the city. I don't remember the last time my kids had a full school week (including this week; they are off for the rest off the week again).

I have too. In fact, I sort of have positive memories of the scent of smoke as my dad was a heavy smoker & I remember very well the scent of his hands, which I don't consider a bad smell. It's the smell of it on people's clothes that I became more aware of when i quit smoking. Not the same smell at all & not nearly as pleasant.

The smell of smoke on other people gives me heartburn now, instantly. I have major GI problems, so it doesn't take much for me, but still knowing I used to smell like that, not sure how my stomach made it through that.

As for southerners trying to drive in snow, I get it. I drive a little sports car. I didn't put my winter tires on last year, it was fun? Fun might not be the right word. If I stopped on any sort of an incline there was little chance I was going forward again after that. And that was with the stock "All Season" tires. I couldn't imagine trying with my summer tires. This year the winter tires went on day after thanksgiving, and a couple hundred pounds of weight in the trunk.
It's still entertaining to see cities be shutdown by what would hardly be news worthy snow 'storms' here.

The coyotes ate all my chickens :( They ate the cats too!

Hot wire your chicken pen, put bells on your cat collars (cats: the "Other White Meat" as far as coyotes are concerned), and check out livestock guardians (Anatolian shepherds, emus, etc) or get a Wolf Dog (coyotes: the "Other Red Meat" for WD's). Nothing clears the area of coyotes faster than a WD marking it's territory and howling.:D

French toast, as mentioned. That is the milk, bread and eggs. If you have gluten intolerance that toilet paper will soon be needed.

Yeah, I've had enough of all precipitation. Does anyone else in GA miss the drought?

In KS I know farmers were adopting retired racing greyhounds to control the coyote problem. I've heard some interesting stories. Coyotes are wimps that will not mess with any big dog even when they strongly outnumber the big dog.

Samuel Jackson was on Craig Ferguson one of the few times I watched it. Craig said coyotes look like they should have a cigarette hanging out of their mouths. Samuel Jackson referred to coyotes as "the crack-heads of the animal kingdom". Anyone who has seen them roaming about in early morning hours knows why.

And the dogs. Suddenly my house smells like dog.

Exactly! I just finished giving both of mine a bath. They didn't get near as many baths when I smoked so I'm not sure if they're grateful or resentful that I quit. Right now, they are hiding so it doesn't smell like dog or wet dog at this minute. Almost time to fill their dinner bowls, though so I get to smell dog food & wet dog. Maybe I'll get my son to do it, instead.
