Really near the mexican border.
this cross posted from general discussions from 2 days ago....7/28/10
I saw 2 commercials for e-cigs on television. One on AMC and the other on USA. One was for american blue tip and the other for ez smoke. I know ez smoke is a club, but I have never got around to calling abt.
I know they are out of michigan and when I was looking around, I was going to call them but just never got around to it....and of course I am not looking any longer.
Both of these were during the day and about 30 second commercials. It was interesting to see them advertising on television.

I wish the good brands would advertise more on tv . Frankly this attitude of the powers that be will not be overcome by hiding in the corner in my opinion

The only chance these will become mainstream and widely used is if more people are aware of them.

The only way the fda will back down is if the usage is so widespread that it would be impossible to stop it at that point,

Which is exactly why they are trying to stop it before that happens. They are well aware that once it is in common usage , they will not be able to ban it.

I saw the American Blue Tip commercial, too. I thought it was the cheeziest commercial ever. If I were a still a smoker, that commercial wouldn't persuade me to switch to ecigs. However, I do think it's a good idea to get it out there for the general public to see. The more exposure the better. The only harm I see in those commercials is that there will be a handful of people who will try to use those crappy models, never do research on the internet, and give up.

I think it's good that they advertising on TV, even if it is the crap companies. I would like to see those commercials. We need it to go mainstream and get the word out there.

I believe the reason that the bigger companies get crap stuff and sell it for a high price is because:

A) They can brand it as their own.

B) They are spending tons of money on Advertising. TV spots, especially national TV Spots are not cheap.

C) They may have to employ a legal team to face possible lawsuits and don't want a lot of money tied up in a product they can't sell should they have to cut and run.

Those are my thoughts anyway.

I heard they were on the discovery channel too. That fishing show.. one of the characters died, so his son was promoting ecigs.

Also, today I had my ecig dangling from my mouth (as I'm wont to do) while in the drive thru at mickey-d's. The chick that gave me my food made some wide eyed look and said something to her co-workers. Must have had something to do w/my PV... (and not my stunning good looks :D)

Any half decent entrepreneur knows you dont make money from 1 time sales....it's repeat business that makes the money.
Customer loyalty is worth thousands more then saving a few cents per unit.

Sigh...yet again the folks without any sense have the cash.

Maybe the FDA is funding craptastic ecigs to turn people away. a wolf in sheep's wool

Seems like everyone doing the mass-market route, whether it's TV, radio (our local AM talk station's ad was the first I heard of e-cigarettes), or mall kiosks, goes with the "just like a cigarette" looking products. And when you think of all the new ECF arrivals (myself included) who start out with that expectation, it's probably good marketing.

For people who buy those products, I guess there are three possible outcomes: 1) it proves unsatisfactory and lands in a drawer unused and e-smoking is abandoned altogether, 2) the buyer finds it wanting, but becomes aware of better, cheaper products (and perhaps ECF), or 3) it works out great, either as a complete or partial substitute for cigarettes. And I'll bet the order in which I laid those out is the correct ranking from most to least cases.

I think its great that there doing commercials now! Huge step forward. However with a newbie in mind, I did a google search for "e-cig" to see what sites came up and all the ones one the front page, none of us would ever do business with. Good thing ECF was also listed!

Oh yeah.. I love this guy!

I know there's tons of ECF'ers with youtube reviews and rants. Why not put together a committee to make advertising on youtube for ecf.com? It's great those other companies are advertising and getting the thoughts and promises of ecigs out there, but I'm afraid that people will shy away for various reasons without support.

As a new convert...

I saw adds on the Internet that took me to either "free trial" scam looking websites, or sites wanting $200+ for a starter kit, and what seemed like too much for more carts or whatever. It appeared it would cost more than buying regular cigarettes, which are more than expensive enough.

So, I passed until I found a disposable by accident at a gas station.

After trying the $10 cheapy my impressions were:

A) This tastes like Crap

B) This China stuff scares me

C) This might actually work as a replacement for cigarettes provided A and B were addressed.

So I started looking on the internet and promptly found ECF.
