i agree i started with a blu kit(Waist of money for me) they have changed since then and are supposedly better these days but i would still pass on any cigalike(cig sided vaporizer) they just dont have the power to give you a satisfying vape and leave you with cravings for the real thing, they are fine for someone who just wants one for when they cant smoke like in a bar for a few hours but if you are planing on quitting smokes i would suggest something a little bigger like a Ego kit.

i think beginners do well to start with something that looks, feels and works like a cigarette. I agree with the poster who recommended smokeless image (2 automatic battery kit under $30 with the st paddy code). you can get another battery free within a week or so by posting in their freebie thread. i know from experience that they will replace a battery that dies in the first 3 months and their cartomizers are top quality.

you will want a more sophisticated battery after awhile, but after more than a year of vaping the small cig size batts are my choice when i go out, at bedtime, while typing and while doing chores.

Thanks for your support, hausmouse. :)

I know the first inclination is to go with something like a cigarette-size battery, I know, I was the same way. But after just two weeks of using my first setup that cost me some $60, I knew I needed something much better. I actually skipped the intermediate step and went to the advanced PV's or mods. But everyone here who has been where you are now are going to advise you to skip the Blu kit. Wise words are buy once, cry once, regret never.

Anytime bad. I gotta appreciate someone who is always taking the time to lead the beginners in the right direction (whether they choose to take the advice or not) in your areas of expertise. Always spot on with the recommendations too. I just wish you were there when I started the first time. now on the 4th but this time is for good. First time 3 were with blu. 4th I picked up blu and the batteries just seemed like they didn't have much. Ordered a cheap kr808, would've been an ego if I would've been here yet. Went almost 4 months and that wasn't doing it for me but the difference was instead of wanting a smoke I wanted a better vape. Bought an expensive vv mod (don't like to mention the name, my bank account knows the name) huge difference but could've probably been happier longer if I was here and had bad to tell me to buy an ego first instead of a kr808

Thanks hausmouse.

About the Blu, I was mainly just curious if you could basically mix and match cartridges. I was never highly convinced of Blu in the first place, its just the only e-cigg I know of that I can literally get within the next 10 minutes. But I have to admit you guys are spot on about the similar to cigg desire. I keep finding myself gravitating in that direction by looking at dimensions of the items and such (which a few sites could add more of). In fact, I didnt really want to admit it, but one thing I didnt like about that first junk that I bought was that it was so heavy compared to a real smoke. That is just obvious common sense, but...

What you can't realize at this point, is the size and weight aversion you have of the intermediate (ego) batteries is all in your head. You mind is saying appearance over function. Once you have some experience in vaping, that will mostly go out the window. You will want the best vapor that you can afford, and that simply can not be found in the smaller battery setups.

We're not telling you how to spend your hard-earned cash, we're trying to help you not waste money, and to help you to stop smoking the easiest way possible. We've all been where you are, and wish we had someone to help us like we are trying to help you. We won't steer you wrong.

I hate to ever tell someone that they shouldn't want something because you should be comfortable with what you have but if you can get over those dimensions I can garuntee you'll be happier with the quality of your vape. It's like an iPod shuffle vs. the one that looks like the iPhone but can't call (I don't remember what it's called because I make phone calls because I have an iPhone). Anyway one is a little smaller and takes up less space but that same one also holds much less music and has much less battery life. Get the comparison? While the cigalike may be a more comfortable size it is the less powerful model. When you are looking for something to replace that draw and throat hit of a cigarette power can be very important in your decision on carrying a pack or an Ecig. If your stuck on having a cigalike and I absolutely can't talk you out of it blus website can tell you where to pick up a disposable to test out the cigalike

I started off with the "Blu" Had to change batteries almost every hour. Although I did quit smoking cigarettes after 36 yrs of smoking 2 pks a day. I knew the Blu was not going to cut it for me long term. So I found these forums and read and read for days. People are very friendly and helpful on here. Esp for someone like me who never even heard of vaping. I ended up buying an eGo C and some vision clearomizers. I am pretty much a chain vaper. With the 1000mah batteries I only have to charge them like every other day. HUGE improvement. I also just recently bought a Reo Grande and am loving my set ups. I now use my Reo for my tobacco juice flavors for vaping all day long. And using my eGo c with clearomizers for my flavor juices. Waiting to get in the mail my Boba's Bounty and Gorilla juice that I just ordered. Still looking for that perfect tobacco juice for my all day vaping. I have the Domestic from Johnson Creek and if Boba's Bounty does not beat it in my taste preference I will stick with my Domestic from Johnson Creek. Also looking for a good spearmint juice if anyone can recommend one for me to try. Want spearming not a menthol. Good luck you are in the right place to learn what you need to know. This is the ONLY way I have been able to quit smoking. And I was one of those individuals who thought they would end up dying with a cig in my hand. Found my answer with vaping and NO withdrawls.

Do not let cost discourage you during this startup phase. Once you get settled in you will realize a significant savings over, in my case, $6 for a pack of cigarettes at 1 pack a day. I estimate I can spend half as much in a year. If you make it a hobby you may not see much savings because there will always be a newer and better device that comes along. 2 months into vaping and I am starting to see some savings. I was 2 weeks in transition between cigarettes and vaping but now am 1 1/2 months since completely quiting cigarettes.

My first e-cig was a Blu then I purchased a Choice 7's starter kit. The warnings about being trapped into a specific brand of the cigarette looking ones are true. If the brand has the 510 or 808 threading then your options are much better for compatibility.

I agree with Baditude about the kits however, they can be helpful in getting you started. If you want to get something that will get you started for as little money as possible but still get a good brand name, I would recommend a Joye 510 starter kit. The cheapest I have ever seen that includes everything you need to get going (and not much that you don't need) is this one:

https://www.cignot.com/product_p/kit-510-nbx.htm

This will give two cigarette-like batteries, two atomizers and 5 pre-filled cartridges. It also comes with a wall charger. Definitely get the manual button batteries, btw. They produce a better hit than the automatics. I have no idea what the juice tastes like that comes with it but there are plenty of places to find some really good stuff. You mentioned that taste is not that big of deal for you right now so you can delve into that later.

Joye is the best brand for look-a-like batteries and this price is great. You will eventually want to get an eGo or better but if you just really want to get going, this is what I recommend. I am sure a lot of people would disagree but I think it is better to have something simple to start with and then as you learn, get into the more complicated setups. The good thing about these 510 batteries is that the threading is compatible with eGos so whatever parts you buy now (atomizers, cartomizers, etc.) can also be used later down the road.

I hope that helps a bit and welcome!

I'll further emphasize the above statements about startup cost. Many newcomers balk at this. But realize that its the batteries that are the most expensive part of a setup, and you can't get started without them. And of course you need juice and something to put it in to be able to vape.

Once you have the hardware, recurrent expenses each month will be limited to replenishing your juice supply and delivery devices...probably less than half of the initial startup costs, and less than half that you likely wasted on cigarettes.

We're talking about a life-saving move here, not just about cost savings.

That's my path.....what yours will be is still unknown....but I wish you luck...if you leap....remember this...Copper Creek House Blend.....let me repeat....Copper Creek House Blend,..I get a 25% cut....alright another lie.....but as a boro smoker for 35 years.....this is nivarna.....Good luck this is your mission if you wish to accept it....if not....your lungs will self destruct in ...........:?:
