I've not smoked a single cig in two months, but unfortunately I haven't been able to vape freely.

E-Cig's are not longer allowed in bars and I cannot smoke them within a certain amount of feet from my college campus.

I found this out when I was vaping a few days ago and a security guard came out of the building. She told me I couldn't smoke and needed to go to the smoking area. As a "non-smoker", and not wanting to smell cigs, I began to tell her how I wasn't smoking. She said "whats that coming out of your mouth? looks like smoke to me."

After explaining everything in excruciating detail, I had to go to the smokers area with my tail behind my legs having lost the battle...

I get that a lot, even when I'm smoking outside of a restaurant they tell me I can't smoke near a public building and need to move.

I live in Savannah, GA BTW and they have this new "breath easy" thing so my e-cig experience has been thrown into the same category of analogues.

Guilty by association....

Umm...dont be rude about it...but if it is in fact legal...then do what you wish.
Like the security guard Explain it..if that doesnt work do a "Yes ma'am" and vape any way.

Not sure what your using but get a NON cig looking ecig... in fact just a few weeks ago I had a "rentacop" security guard stop me on my "non smoking anywhere..we dont even have smoke pits" college campus. Yell no smoking at me, I held up a bright blue GLV...not smoking I say...and walked away vaping leaving a very confused guard behind me.

..in short be cool about it:2cool::vapor:

We've had ecigs in the US for 5 years now and longer in Europe. You'd think there would be more public knowledge about them by now. The few times I've been approached about smoking them in public (both times outside) once the authority figure saw what I had the reaction was " Oh, OK. That's cool then." I guess it depends on where you're at and how much of an ... you're dealing with.
I should point out that I try to be as respectful as possible. I find I get the best results that way.

I have a riva 510, it looked nothing like an e-cig so that didn't work. :(

And honestly, I'm not a confrontational person or a "cop hater" :p

It was probably one of the rare times where I'll actually resist and say it's not an e-cig, but It wasn't THAT big of a deal to me.

I could walk the extra 5 feet, but I just hate the smell of cigs! They give me horrible sneezing fits. It's kind of funny how I used to sneeze all the time when I smoked and never knew why lol.

Sadly it didn't work. I'm not angry or too upset about it. I'm just disappointed that E-cigs aren't as mainstream as they should be. It's cool to amaze people with my e-cig now and then, but it would be nice to see a fellow e-cig smoker. I haven't met one in person yet! We could have an e-cig smoker area!

It's getting better and better though. Sometimes it actually surprises me when I do see another vaper.

I was at a party about a month ago with my husband at my nieces house. There was quite an age assortment of people there. Toward the end of the evening, I heard a young man (late 20's) ask my niece if he could vape in her house, which I'd been doing all evening! LOL We ended up chatting more than w probably would have otherwise (I'm 46yrs old) and had quite a pleasant conversation about vaping, models, and possibly swapping juices that we purchased but didn't care for.

The times that I've been asked not to vape, I usually explain and it isn't a problem--including the hospital that my mother was in prior to her passing. What's more, the area that she was in in the hospital was for respiratory issues and the doctor was all for it. I showed more people at the hospital my little 510 more than I'd shown anyone in the previous 2 years!!

We really have come a long way baby! ;)

I've been pretty lucky and haven't had anybody say anything to me so far. I use it everywhere I go. But there's a key point here. If I'm going to be vaping somewhere that's non-smoking, and the general public is around, I'll try to stealth vape. I vape primarily mint, and it really has no obvious smell to it like my fruity juices do. This could be why nobody says anything to me....

Personally I quit smoking analogs because my lungs could not take the toxins that came along with it. I am not going to let them push me into taking in second hand smoke by making me vape in a smoking area. I will stand my ground and try to educate them as much as possible. Hopefully this will bring more awareness to the facts associated with vaping. Fortunately I have not been forced to migrate to the smoking section as of yet.

I agree that outdoor anti-vaping laws and rules are just wrong. But, I don't think debating the issue with police and security isn't the best idea. You need to go to whoever has the authority to make an official interpretation of the rules and work from there.

PS I also agree that as a vaper, you're a non-smoker.

e-cigs were included in the savannah smoking ban...alabama has legislation in the pipeline that will do the same thing.

Check out the campaigning sections of the forum and the CASAA webpage and find out who to call and write to educate the people who make the foolish rules. In the meantime, there is always stealth vaping :grrr:
