Guys, how long does it take for you to gunk up your coils?

New to rebuilding. Is this normal after 2 days? Or is it my juice?

vaping super snow and b ice from across the bridge.

Wah chaota.. what's your coil ohm?

Really can't recognize the coil liao

It's either too hot or your juice gunks coils. Need to know your ohms and what voltage/watts u go to.

I dont have a multimeter YET.
According to a app i download, 26 AWG 2.5 mm coils and 12 wraps = about 1.5 ohms

you guys think its the juice?

Not much dry hits, just the taste gets more mutted with each puff.

I'm thinking of possible reasons other than ohms/heat/juice gunk since others have mentioned them. I used to coil too tight on my TF's wick and choke the juice, and my coils go chao tah faster than usual. If the wick is squeezed by 12 coils closely coiled like a tube, the wick in middle part might be dry (not wicking fast enough) and start burning silica.

holy cow!! sounds bad!! what should i do??

but i tread the wick after i build the coils .. shouldn't be that tight correct?

maybe i should get some 30 - 32 gauge wire, then i'll need less wraps..

Relax, it's not exactly on fire kinda thingy. It might not be the root cause also, though it certainly explains the gradual muted taste (wicking issue). What silica wick are you using? The wicking issue/ chokage might not be at the coils but rather the channels.

Personally i would go for 30awg (5/6) but it's up to your preference. 30awg is kinda versatile and easy to work with, i use it in most of my attys.

Edit: missed out a part... yep, you might have threaded the wick after building the coils, but wicks need to be able to expand to draw juice properly. If its a tight fit when you thread, it likely cannot catchup with chain vape.

thanks for the tips, will look out for some 30awg wire when visiting bolehland.
i don't know what wick i got, i just bought what ever the shop recommended.
maybe i should switch to cotton?

BTW: any shops selling wire locally?

You can use a volt meter just research how to check ohms with volt meter

Ah, yes, technically he would be able to check the resistance with a multimeter. However, unless he gets a high-end one (read costly), the readings will not be accurate enough. Conventional multimeter have the lowest range at 0-200 ohms which comes with +-x% accuracy, not good enough for determining resistance of coils (esp if he goes lower).
