Gurgling after refilling tanks

Hi all.........

I've been vaping since January 2012, and just went from a basic ecig (Halo-G6) to a tank system. I really know nothing about using tanks, and would appreciate any tips you can offer. I'm having some specific problems with them, one of which is gurgling after refilling, and I wonder why this happens and if I'm doing something wrong?

Also, I'd like to know if there are tanks that don't use wicks. Burnt wicks are also driving me crazy.

Another issue is the taste of the eliquid. It seems to vary greatly from one refill to the next, even when refilling from the same source multiple times.

I'm sorry if some of these seem like stupid questions.........

When I refill a carto tank I tilt it until a hole in the carto has air over it. Carefully, of course, with the top in place, just not fully secured. One I see the air bubble over the hole, I secure the top. It has to do with the air pressure of putting on the top forcing juice into the carto and often flooding it. (And, sometimes carto's just like to gurgle or snap a bit, too)

It's tricky with the DCT's -- easier with Bella's, Lava's, Uniques etc. (ones with attached drip tip).

Burnt wicks? Must not be a carto tank. The wicks have to be kept wet -- either tilt more, use thinner juice, or don't vape so hard and fast. Those are my only tips on that one. I've sure there are threads on it.

It would be easier to answer the OP's question if I knew what type of tank he or she is using. A cartotank is completely different than a clearotank (string wick).

Gurgling means there is too much liquid in the cartomizer, and the liquid has found its way into the center air hole. There are a few things that can cause this:

* Juice got into the center air tube in the carto while you were refilling the tank. This can be avoided in the future by using either a tank filling tool (Slap Yo Moma from Big Daddy Vapors) or sticking a wood tooth pick into the carto air hole while adding liquid.

* You took the top cap off of the cartotank to add liquid. The proper way to add liquid is to push the carto down half way thru the tank (best done with the above tank tool) and add liquid in the space between the top end cap.

* You are pulling too hard with your vaping technique. Too hard of a pull causes too much liquid to enter the carto. A slow - gentle - patient pull lasting 3 - 6 seconds in length works best for a cartotank.

* You filled the tank too full. A cartotank works on the principal of negative pressure inside the tank. When you vape, the suction created causes juice from the tank to refill what was removed in the cartomizer. There should be some air in the tank, so only fill about 80% full.

I wrote a blog with several articles on cartomizers and cartotanks, one of which is a tutorial on cartotank setup. There you will find a couple of videos demonstrating proper ways to fill and assemble a tank, and a video on the tank tool I mentioned earlier. You can access this blog by clicking the link under my avatar.

Best of luck with your vaping! :vapor:

I'm using (both Halo) the G6 mini tank, and the Triton tank.
