hello ppl. I very much like my Gus' and I have a few beautiful pieces from them. Kostas is always extremely helpful and will send me a new nut for the switch (I wrecked one, or two, possibly three :().

I can't keep asking the guy though and €15 for a nut is too much for me. For the price of 7 nuts I can just order a new mech from them.

Does anybody here know the size of the nut and the threading needed completely?
I have misplaced my measuring tape and ruler and I want to find a DIY site and just buy lots of spare brass nuts which are pennies each I think.

Please bare in mind that I am pretty much a ..... when it comes to anything related to DIY.
Nuts, bolts, screws, threading... the list goes on
So if you know please treat me accordingly, I found a brass hex head screw; M4x20???

I don't know what that means. £0.23 though, a tad easier than €15. Thankyou

M4 means it is metric bolt 4mm in diameter. The 20 normally means the length of the bolt in mm.

Metric bolts are usually listed in diameter size 4mm thread size 1.00 and length 20mm

Thanks Tin Man. Shocking that I've managed to wriggle away from knowing something helpful like that by 27 but...
Here we are.

Cheers

Do you need the nut or the screw?

This is a hex head screw

Dude, how do you keep busting a nut? I have a Gus and never had a problem with my nuts.

I tend to order extra parts to keep on hand. Screws, tanks, o-rings and nuts. I was going to say that I keep these parts in a sack, but that would be just wrong.

I need help.;)

Very good. Myself, I'm just far too rough with mine,
I can't leave em alone...
Okay, that's enough.

No, I lost some ballbearings on THE gold mod and I thought I'll just take some from the spare switch I'v got.
Bad move. I put the Allen in one side then my iffy, sharp, cheap and pretty much useless needlenose on the bolt. I shredded it with one turn but couldn't stop myself.
Then I spoke to my dad and he said they have been overtightened originally, or just fused together (or whatever it's called)

So I put the three others in the freezer. Bingo. One came off and I thought ""
But the others didn't work so I shredded those too
I'm just about to buy M4x8 with a 7.5 head diameter with flat heads instead of hex. I don't like the hexagonal ones. Should be okay? You think?

Sorry for the long one. You did ask ;)

Btw, thank you TheTinMan

Not sure how your Gus mods are still in one piece then. ;)

I seriously had to change my touch with the Gus or the firing button went flying. Same with my GP as it would lock if I used too much force.

Usually I am like a bull in a china shop, but I can't be with Gus/GP mods.

Actually, possibly.
The M4 threading is correct but...
In this country I can only find M4x6 (slightly too short)
and M4x8 (slightly too long)

I can't find m4x7 but I think that would be correct. All the mods fire atm with the originals but the guys at the hardware shop told me they will cut to measure so I could do it that way when I get round to it.
I'm thinking of flathead machine screws though because I'm not really keen on hexagonal.
They have those on my paps and they are flawless.

So.. your definitely looking for a brass machine screw which is M4. You could go with any shape that suits you as long as it's M4. possibly with a 7mm length (but that my guess). I can't remember the diameter of the head though?
If you can find a 7mm length let me know if it works.
