So, Ive been vaping exclusively.... for 23 days, or thereabouts.
and I Rationaized having a cigarette. I wanted to see how disgusting it was now.
It smelled bad, and tasted bad. And then I thought... WHAT THE HECK AM I DOING!! And I put it out... after like... 5 or 6 unsatisfying puffs... but now i feel like i am back at square 1..... I just smoked. All the blood vessels are contaminated with C02 and... it seems like its a little harder to breathe (Might just be in my head though). I feel like I just let myself down... And I just took like... 2 minutes off my life expectancy.... Now I just feel really bad.... ...........I crushed the rest.
But I guess on the plus side, GOODNESS was that ever DISGUSTING!

Keep it up and I'll call you a drama queen. Lighten up on yourself, you've actually just done yourself a big favor. After a couple of months of not smoking I found two old packs. I smoked one out of curiosity. Actually two because I just couldn't fathom how bad the first one was. It was one of the biggest favors I ever did for myself, didn't have a cig craving in something like a year after that. Go run around the block and retrieve those two minutes off your life, then get back to the business of vaping. You've done good, you've just seen the light on how truly awful cigarettes are. :)

These posts are pretty common: a lot of vapours go back and have there final goodbye cigarette before heading off into the vaping sunset.

If you were back at square one you’d be a smoker again and would have stopped vaping. If your still a vapour and threw out the smokes and are officially done and dusted with them then isn’t that an achievement?

You'll be fine. A few puffs isn't enough to undo all the good health benefits you have achieved so far. (By the way, I did that once a few days after quitting, took a puff of a stinky and OMG yuuuck.) As for the "fall back" of getting off stinkies, if you are vaping with a similar nic level, you shouldn't have any adverse effects from the few seconds of puffing on a tar factory.

You're not back to square one, you've probably done yourself a favour and reminded yourself how much better vaping is. Don't feel bad, one cigarette out of the thoudands you have smoked in your lifetime isn't going to do you any harm. Honestly, you probably inhale worse stuff walking through a car park.

I had a cigarette the other day after giving up 3 months ago. I realised I'd forgotten how to smoke properly. I was taking long, slow puffs and getting a really unsatisfying cloud. I also forgot you have to keep on smoking it and can't just take a puff here and there, and the thing actually went out by itself.

I'd still consider you a non-smoker after that one - well it wasn't even a whole one was it. Go easy on yourself!

don't beat yourself up, you did yourself a great thing, remember that nasty, when the cravings hit. I did the same thing, snuck a puff after two weeks or so from a friends...and I remember that every time I want to or think I do and vape.

that's called "negative reinforcement" and it works in the short term. Long term all the positive reinforcement for not smoking health, scent, etc will win out (or that's the plan at least) :)

good luck and I'd say "hang in there" but it just ruins a good manicure.*lol*

You is fine. You just had a "quit smoking experiment" and that's allowed here.

People really need to do this early on in their vaping career anyway. You just found out that you are one of the fortunate majority - the smoking experience turns on you after you start vaping and now you can't stand cigarettes. Lesson learned - and it was a good lesson. For most of us shortly after we start vaping, smoking a cigarette actually turns out to be it's own worst negative reinforcement. Think you will be repeating that any time soon? :D

For the unfortunate peeps where that does not happen and they still like smoking, well they need to learn that early on too. Those folks now know what they are up against, and have to work a bit harder to stay away from tobacco.

Either way: no fear this time. Switching to vaping can and does take away that fear that your one cigarette will turn into a total relapse.

That's me. I still love smoking and the smell of burning tobacco. I have to watch my back every day. OP, you're lucky you hated it. All you have to do is remind yourself next time you're tempted that you hate smoking.

I backslid...

I had just spent 9 days under the hospitality of the county and I caved. (judge as you like for either or both) Smoked maybe 4 over 2 days. They are gross! I

ll have to reset my banner.. But at least i'm still a non smoker. As long as we go back to something non tobacco it can help make us stronger in our resolve.

Grossed me out to the point of where i got sick to my stomach. Its not biggie, as long as you stay the course and keep on vaping youll be alright. you did nothing wrong

Some of us had more than a single "let's try and see" cigarette. Lord knows I did. I didn't just switch to vaping and never have a cigarette. I hated that I bummed them here and there, but I did. And I told myself it was OK because I wasn't buying them. Nope, someone else was helping me be 'bad.' But then two years ago after having bought my first really good mod which I had used for a week, when an opportunity came along to bum one. It was then I realized I didn't need or want it. And I haven't had a real cigarette for two full years now.

Like others have said, don't beat yourself up. Many of us have been in your shoes. Yes we have.
