Had a store lie to me..

Went to a brick and mortar the other day and they said they just got some vtc5 in stock so I bought two. After using them for a few days I happened to notice that they code says us18650nc1. So I have been vaping a .2 ohm build with a battery a that can only handle 10amps and not 30. Has anyone else had similar problems with stores selling you something different then they say it is?

What's wrong with the B&M guy checking them before he gives them to the customer? Isn't that his job?

Agreed. I meet so many new vapers that are turning to brick and mortar for guidance that haven't got a clue about what they are buying. While I agree the customer is the one that is ultimately responsible for what they are buying, the vape shops should realize their role in selling to completely ignorant people. (by ignorant, I mean uneducated on vaping devices, not stupid)

Tried 10 B&Ms before I found that seems to carry quality. Not a fan of buying online. To me this seems to be the biggest with vaping. One store sold me a Kayfun clone never mentioned that it was a clone. The threads were horrible. Stripped my MVP. When I brought it back the owner said he would rethread it but needed to buy the tool first. Second clone the screws were to small to catch the wire. We post all the good places we should post the bad ones as well.

I'd not assume a guy in a vape store knew his .... from his elbow. Whether online or in person it's an unregulated market and so "buyer beware", same as buying a used car.

That means you have to do your research, use this forum, and if you are lucky enough to know someone experienced, get their advice.
Getting batteries wrong or inadvertently buying fakes is going to end badly for someone eventually.

That falls under the category of Assume and I never assume the Fast Food order in my bag is correct or the Batteries handed me for my Mods. You go through life always expecting the other person to get it right and you will have a much higher rate of disappointments.

There's nothing wrong with the B&M guy checking them before but when it comes to safety, you have to check your own business yourself.

When you're driving your car and the passenger tells you do this do that and you just do it and get in an accident, it's your fault. You can blame the passenger all you want, but ultimately, it's the person behind the steering wheel that's responsible.

I guess I'm Old School. But I don't Trust people in Stores to Know what they are Talking About. And I Don't Trust them to Give me the Correct Item that I Asked for.

That, and I count my Change when some Clerk just hands me my Change and then say's "Have a Nice Day".

A lot of people working in sales just do or say whatever it takes to get you to buy; as far as they're concerned, it's YOUR job to check the item and it's their job to SELL.

What's disturbing about this case, is we're talking about subohming on 0.2 ohms and you ought to be checking this kind of thing.

I've had that happen to me. If the hipster behind the counter gives me lip, I say "thanks" and leave. Then I come back wearing a kilt and I walk behind the counter and start rubbing mods up under the kilt and tell them I'll work my way to the expensive mods unless they fix the problem. I usually get the correct products I requested right around the Innokins.

I've had it happen that a B&M vape sales guy didn't know what he was talking about a few times. If I had not known better I would probably have been led wrong. It sucks, but it is what it is.

Same thing has happened to me with car repairs and a bad roofer once. I'm just nerdy enough to usually get it when someone is BS'ing me and it's technical in nature. It also helps to do your homework before you go shopping.

Don't get me wrong, there's really no excuse for this kind of thing. But again, it is what it is and it's not just in vaping. Take the batteries back, be nice, explain it to them and get a refund or the right batteries. A Friday afternoon/evening or a Saturday would IMO be a good time to do it.
