I mean, there's no particular reason you should feel COMPELLED to stay below 80W, but as I keep saying it's all about what you're comfortable with. if you don't like high wattages, don't use them. If you do, don't feel like it's dangerous because you're new. You have a regulated device and we will help.

Though it does sound like a lower wattage flavor tank will be more your speed, just saying there's no sense in closing yourself off to any particular style just because you're new. vaping gear has come a long way.

Hi Fifamy
Lots of good advice so far. Your original post mentioned you were doing 3 second draws. For me that is a long draw, mine are usually about 1/2 a second, rarely over 1 second. I vape on power (watt) mode almost exclusively and I'm not sure how I'd be able to draw for a full 3 seconds on power mode without getting a dry hit in response. On TC mode it is no problem since the mod itself will prevent the coil from overheating and burning the wick but on power mode you'd have to be pretty fancy on that fire button to do it.

I suspect there is actually little difference between how the Alien works versus the Battlestar so if I were you I wouldn't run out to buy one for that reason alone. Also the Baby Beast does have an RBA available for it.

Agreed on this point. The Battlestar may be slightly better built, but it's another inexpensive Chinese device. It just happens to have a devoted fan base, but so does the Alien. There's no real harm in getting one but it's probably not going to give you a hugely different experience. The temp control may be slightly better than the Alien, especially since you're running an earlier firmware, but if you want a device for temperature control and can afford an additional 20-30 bucks above the Battlestar, there are MUCH better options. If you just want a device for wattage, there's nothing wrong with a Battlestar, but power mode is pretty much power mode.

OK, maybe - what are they?

I find nothing wrong with TC on the Battlestar (as yet). I use the Battlestar for TC & watts and the Fuchai 213 (original) for only watts.

At least one location still has the Hohmtech HohmWrecker for $60, same with the Slice. If you go price searching, you can find a DNA75 for that amount ($20-30 above the battlestar, say $70-80). If you go used, you could probably find a DNA167 for a bit more.

It is my personal opinion that any of these would be better as a temperature control device than an inexpensive Chinese mod, especially as the OP has indicated he doesn't think he loves super high wattages. Particularly the HohmWrecker; that's a no brainer to me.

Though it does seem as though the wrecker and slices will be shortly unavailable.

ed: Also, really not to say the Battlestar is a poor choice or doesn't have decent TC. I have LOTS of inexpensive mods; some do TC much better than others. It may very well be a good improvement over the Alien. I haven't used one enough to be able to say. If you can find it for an especially good price, it becomes even more attractive. All I'm saying is that with some places asking close to or more than $50 (with shipping) for the Battlestar, spending a little more might open up other options that arguably should be another step up in TC quality, anyway. Either way, I certainly didn't mean to bash Battlestars. From what I've seen and what little I've used, it's a very good mod for the price point.
