Ok, I just ordered a couple of vials from Freshsmoking. Thanks for the link Kent.

I'll try this and if my tongue still feels like I have been smokin' "coppertone" than I'll try the VG blend.

For what it's worth, I get the same coppery taste when I overdo it on Lipton's iced tea mix.

Go figure.

Good. Yep, if you're still getting that taste then it is either the ecig or the PG base. You might want to soak your atty in some clear 151 (Everclear) or just plain clear vodka for a few hours - blow out from both ends, let sit on a napkin then blow out once more. This may have been suggested, but check the atty bridge and see if there is any filler hanging on... if so very carefully with the tweezers, remove. Then if you try the Newport and still get it, it's the PG. My suggestion if that's the case if try ECOpure from innovapor.com. or liquidxpress, but ECOpure imo, is smoother but subtle tastes. And for now, stay away from nonPG at Nuvape although I think that they may have had bad batch.... I think I saw one report that it was ok now. Others have had good stuff from other vendors TW, which I haven't tried yet.

Nope. I never knew how to clean the atty. I should do that just for good measure anyhow.

I'm not a drinker though. Would isopropyl alcohol work?

Thanks for the tip.

I'll keep you posted.
I used isopropyl alcohol on a new atomizer to get any possible primer off of it, but it isn't working very well now. Of course, I don't know if was working before I did that or not, since I did it first thing.

But I did read a post here today somewhere where a guy said NOT to use isopropyl alcohol because it leaves some sort of film behind. So I am currently soaking that same atomizer in Coke Zero for the night and will see how it works tomorrow.

Some have used that. You can get Everclear for $10. You don't have to drink it - I don't. :)

Just saw deadcat's post so you might want to pass on using isopropyl alcohol...

If yer gonna try the ECOpure, I can save ya 10% on the purchase from innovapor.com throw in the coupon code Drakefire

I personally liked SE's tob flavored PG....ran out fast though=/ Was really hoping to find another like it but to no avail so far.....one of my co workers thought it tasted like battery acid though lol....guess i like battery acid.

I'm tempted to try animal glycerin if veg glycerin gives me the same sore throat. Cant say it felt like a russian army was marching across my tongue, but the needles jabbing my throat were there.

I used vodka to clean my atty today after hearing it works well....then ran some coke through it, then water, then let it dry.

The tiny little bit of juice i had left had a great taste afterwards....sadly i got like 2 puffs and it was back to "out" status.

I can only add that it is normal to vape away 20ml juice for 8 days.

If you vape 2,5ml a day x 8 = 20 sharp, which seems normal to me.

Hope you can get more juice quickly...:thumb:

WOW Viachy!!8-o 2-5 ml bottles a day!!! may go through 3ml at most a day. Granted that will probably change as I just ordered a 510 and hear they are very thirsty suckers LOL:D Right now Im using a 401 and it seems to be pretty good in the liquid department.

Get a higher mg concentration and don't vape so much.

I agree with that, the only time I get a bad taste is when the juice runs, low and it tastes burnt. But I tend to stick with 18mg at the lowest...unless Im just using it to cut a higher juice. I'm still in the process of finding that perfect flav, but I like to use the tobacco flavs like Virginia (36mg) cut with a tad bit of vanilla (6mg) for a sweeter flav. Works for me at the moment :D

Ok The juice from Freshsmoking.com came in on Monday and I was eager to try it. In the meantime I was smoking analogs again and my symptoms subsided.

By Wednesday, using the new stuff (apple which was very mild), my mouth and lips were all dried out again! I awoke three times during the night very thirsty!

This gadget is dehydrating me. I looked up causes of "dry mouth" (Xerostomia)and one of them listed was "excessive pipe smoking."

I guess I'll try the VG version if I can get some (most sites selling this stuff don't tell you if it's PG, VG, or cat piss).

I would like to add that I worked in an optical lab years ago where I used to buy Propelyene Glycol (food grade) by the five gallon container. I stood in front of a beaker of it heated to 190 degrees F fuming for eight hours a day and it didn't affect me at all.

I have smoked cigarettes for over thirty years and lived to tell the tale. I now try the "safe alternative" and it's making me sick!

I can't be the only person having this experience.

I guess I'll get some samples of Ecopure (thanks for the coupon Drakeman) and see if it makes a difference.

I wonder about this stuff. For one, analogs, though most of us don't notice, cause dry mouth. Many a dentist have told me that. And in my experience it is true.
But when I started vaping I also had alot of dry mouth and took care of it this way..

1. Find the appropriate nic strength. Too high nic and it dries your mouth out, too low and you'll have to vape all the time which will make you drier. I experimented so that 4-5 puffs was satisfying. That turned out to be, for me, 13-16 nic strength, so I add VG to my 18 to bring it down a notch. Also the VG helps with vapor making each hit more satisfying.

2. Don't drink just water! most people don;t realize that water will dehydrate you. If you drink enough of it it lowers your electrolytes and sodium, thus making it harder for your body to retain fluid. Thus drying you out. Best to get flavored water, gatorade or juices (bananas work great) to keep your electrolytes from dropping.

3. I bought BIOTENE mouth wash- a large bottle and a tine small one. I use the big to refill the smaller which I carry arround. Biotene is made to treat dry mouth, is great for your teeth and gums. Oddly, BTW, the major ingredient in it is PG! I wonder sometimes if its the PG or the flavor additives or just the nature of vaopr that makes vaping so drying.

Whatever the case, its helped me out alot, and solved the problem- when I remember to do it. lol.

I'm pretty sure that PG absorbs water from your body which is probably what causes the drying.

Skee - you have to go through the stickies above - they point out quite well what you're saying. Expect to be drinking more fluids.

And this is from where most of the studies on inhaling PG have come. And they are quite hopeful in that most conclude a 'positive' or 'neutral' effect.

I have smoked cigarettes for over thirty years and lived to tell the tale. I now try the "safe alternative" and it's making me sick!

I don't think you're going to escape having to increase fluid intake even with VG. Again, read the sticky's, watch Spikey's video.... some of the initial symptom will go away, but if not, at least you tried... I don't think vaping is for everyone. If it didn't work for me I'd be back smoking because it was never my intention to quit.

I tried I guess I just never found the applicable sticky.

I did however find a thread on "Tooth Decay" which adressed the problem of dry mouth at length.

I found one particular post very interesting:

I developed some years ago thyroid problems and at the same time my mouth and eyes became dry..perfect teeth suddenly at age 35 began to fall apart, and now that I've started vaping it seems to be getting even worse at a much faster rate. Drinking extra has not helped before and doesn't now...I'm pretty sure my thyroid levels have tanked as well. Going to the doc tomorrow, in fact. I enjoy vaping and gave up analogs entirely, but I wish I felt better!

In 94 I developed an ankle pain which I attributed to years of sabre fencing competition while in college. So I had it checked out and they ran a series of tests, one of which was a TSH (Thyroid Stimulating Hormone).
I can identify with SueandCootie because before this revelation I had lots of energy, an active life and I could boast of being a guy who had something every woman wanted............A 26" waist!
After they "fixed" my thyroid I felt awful and sluggish and I gained about 40 lbs in a couple of months. When I asked them to put me back the way I was they replied No way bud NOW you are "normal"

Amongst the shortcomings of now enjoying "Normal" health was a myraid of dental problems. Caused by, as the dentist claimed, dry mouth!

So maybe as you say "Vaping isn't for everyone" It may not be advised for people with thyroidism.

But I have the VG ordered and I'm gonna give it another shot. Even if I don't give up the faggies for good at least there will be an alternative to being politely requested to walk to the middle of the desert or make my way to the moon just to get a nicotene fix.

I apologize for the verbose post.
