I thought I did a good thing buying the Halo Triton system. I am using 100% vg ejuice from a local shop, since pg bothered me. Problem is I don't seem to be getting enough vapor out of it. At the local shop the samples had good vapor. They were using just basic 650 ego batteries and basic tanks. Did I make a mistake spending the money and buying Halo??

Thanks
Wayne

What device are you using the tank on? What resistance coil do you have in it?

The main thing with max VG, is that you need to give it time to saturate the wick,... you can speed this up by taking off-puffs on the atty, but you should give it some time... maybe 5 minutes.

I'm thinking you just aren't hitting the coils with enough power.

Halo is Halo. They want you to fawn over their products as if it's the last word in Vaping.
Discounting cig-a-likes it's about a basic as basic can be.
They work, they're beginner stuff. Those tanks were good, but that was 2 years ago.
Big companies move slowly. They also keep selling stuff which should be in the history books.

The VG is very thin, so not a problem there. Using a 2.6-2.8 replacement.. and the 2.2-2.4 that came with the new tanks. I have a 400 battery, was going to order the 900.. will that help with anything or just wasting more money...

I started on the Halo Triton and still use mine every day. I have the 650 battery and it lasts all day plus some and gives me great vapor and flavor. I generally use 50/50 liquids but have used some 20PG/80VG that work fine as well. I have noticed when the battery is in need of a charge you will lose some vapor. (I am also using the stock coils that came with the Halo tanks).
As ThousandYears said above, you do need to keep the top of the tank wet because it's a top coil.
I hope you get your Halo straightened out, I love mine!

I wasn't going to get in to the "100% VG ejuice", but since you say it's thin... I will. So, obviously, if it has nicotine in it... and/or any flavoring... it can't be 100% anything. I'm guessing it's just max VG as I had been calling it... but if it's really thin... then it either has a lot of other stuff in it to thin the VG down. When you think of 'VG', think viscous goop. I'm not talking molasses, but I'm thinking thicker than 10W30 auto oil.

Those high resistance heads sure aren't helping, as they are causing your wattage to start at somewhere around 7 Watts with a freshly charged battery and then it's all down hill from there. For something like this, I would be pulsing the button on for 2 seconds, off for 1 and then back on for 2 seconds and then start my puff... just to make sure the coil is good and hot first. The pulsing is just not to put undue stress on the battery and/or to prevent hitting any type of puff time limit.

IMHO, buying anything else down this road would likely just be an overpriced waste of money. I will say though, that the 900mAh battery may actually be able to handle a higher output than the 400... but I doubt it.

I would (and did when I first started) be looking at better (not more expensive) equipment. For what you have already spent, you could have a decent clone mechanical, rebuildable tank, wire, Rayon and batteries to last you a year. . . you may have been able to spend that same money on a variable wattage mod (MVP2 kit) as well depending on where you shop.

Don't sweat it though, just learn from it. :)

There is tons and tons of great info here online, and quite literally thousands of people to help guide you... I suggest reading and then asking more questions as they come to you... or finding a local shop that will let you try a few things out or that has people who will let you try a few things out before making that next purchase.

I think the Triton is probably fine for what it is, overpriced starter kit. (Two vision spinners that have twice the Mah and Variable Voltage plus two Kanger T2's (same tank as triton) would cost you around 25$ dot dot dot...)

It most likely won't perform as well with very high VG. Top coil as said above, so helps to keep the wicks saturated.

When you do (if you do) invest in something else, get a nice variable voltage/wattage mod and a nice glass clearomizer (MVP2 + Aerotank2 is a great place to start, or iStick and Nautilus Mini). But I think if you find the right juice you should be able to get some great use out of that Halo kit.

So what do I need??? a Ego Twist or Kanger vv battery or something else? This is all for my dad to try go get him to stop smoking. So he doesn't need anything fancy, just something that works and is reliable. I found some VG juice that he likes so that part is taken care of. That was the hard part at 1st, finding something he liked. I figured getting the Halo Triton was the easy part. I may have been wrong. He likes the size of the Halo Triton.. Just need something to keep the vapor flowing nicely...

I just received the Istick and a Mini Nautilus this week, coming from the Halo Triton. Believe it or not, the height is almost exactly the same, it's just a bit wider. I'm very happy with the istick and Nautilus. I may be wrong, but size wise I don't think you can get much smaller than that combination. And the price is right!

If this isn't for you, and is for someone who doesn't want to put a lot of effort into learning the ropes, I think a variable voltage battery and an aspire k1 or kanger mini protank 3 is what you need. Really any VV battery should be okay. I would favor the aspire k1 because of the quality of the replacement BVC coils. They are very affordable, and small sized. You can find an Aspire K1 on ebay for about 8$-9$. The replacement coils are about 10$ for five.

People will dizzy you with talk about rebuilding and DIY and lots of other things that take time to learn. But I think these are the simplest solutions to achieve your goals.

If you need some suggestions on where to buy, send me a PM once you've had five posts.

First thing I would mention is that the Triton tank is nearly the same as a Kanger T2. Any T2 will work on a Triton battery but will leave a slight gap (1/4"). Any replacement head for a Triton tank or a Kanger T2 will work. Here are the cheapest:

Kanger T2 Sunfire 70mm Long Wick Replacement Atomizer Coils 5-Pack - VapingME.com

Second, if you are using 2.5 ohm heads, I would get some 1.8 ohm heads. That should improve the vapor production.

Third, these tanks are kind of old technology...but my wife has been using them for the last 2 years and has no desire to change.

Wayne, Grimwald has given you great advice above. Change the coils often and use the 1.7-1.9 Ohm coils he linked for you. They are basically the same as those you are paying more than double for now. Keep the TOP part of the wick wet, closest to the mouthpiece by tipping and twirling, rather than keeping the device upright. Finally, go to the Halo forum and ask for advice here: Halo
I started with Halo Tritons almost a year ago and I still use some of them almost every day. There are *some* juices that actually taste best in a tank of this type. For the price, they served me well and performed their intended purpose. If you want to have your dad try something else, an istick for about $35 and an Aspire Mini-Nautilus with BVC for about $25 - $30 is a nice step up. That said, Halo is rumored to be coming out with new tanks around Christmas, so just a month or so away. Good luck to your dad and credit to you for helping him!
