Hammer time!!!

Hello everyone.

I decided to have some fun flatenning wire.

My tests so far were with 3 and 4 core twisted .28 N80 and also with Kanthal.

Had some MTL .30*2 + 40 mtl wire and decided to throw that in too.

I hate wasting good coils so when current ones fail will make something out of this wires.

I fired one of the simple twisted manual hammered and ramp-up is insanily faster than an equivalent round coil.

Some tests with hammer and also used the heavy dutty sheet metal roller bending tool at my working place.

I will make some more wires with spacing on twists, counter twists after twisting two wires together, etc

It's still a work in progress and I need to adjust the flattening force used.

Update regarding my hammer tests.

I don't think I will be buying premade coils again.

This twisted hammered coils have a better ramp up and cool down time, use same power in this slightly lower ohms than I use in my higher ohms dual core fused claptons. Cheap and easy to make.

Flavour is amazing at .47ohms and 42 watts.

I made some combos:
2 twisted .28
3 twisted .28
2 twisted .28 and then twisted with a single .28
2 twisted .28 and then twisted again on opposite direction with a single .28
2 separate 2 twisted .28 then twisted again
2 separate 2 twisted .28 then twisted again on opposite direction
4 twisted .28

What I have been feeling:
- Fast ramp up
- Fast cooling
- Excelent flavour

When comparing with my go to fused clapton 2*28 + .38 I would say this are as good as. Way cheaper and easier to make.

Just twisting without flattening is no where near the performance of this flatenned coils. I am trully convinced this is my way to go l when it comes to saving money and enjoying my vaping.

I tried to keep it as simple as possible. Drill for spin and press/hammer for flattening.

Absolutely love these coils I've been using flat wire for 6 months now, and love the fast ramp up it gives, along with less mass but more surface area.

Yes but behaves way differently.

I rushed away from home to our countryside home and wasn't able to bring the wire and drill. It would have been diy madness on free time.

A recent test build:

Dual ni80 fused clapton with 2*.30 + 40, twisted and then flattened with roller press.

Result:

Not the cleanest build at 4mm inner diameter but it's reading .59ohms and I'm vaping away at 39watts.

Ramp-up and cool-down are super fast.

The Intake is pumping out serious flavour and it's confortably warm.

Love it.

Absolutely fascinating... can't wait to try it myself. Actually, it sucks that my RTAs can't mount flat wires (but my dual coil RDA can)
