Trying to pick one and I'm torn. I love the finish and look of the Hana but I love magnetic battery door of the VS and there's something about the VS that appeals to me. Good Lord, I'm torn and just can't afford to do both right now.

QUESTION: Are they both "pass through" devices, where you can vape while they're charging?

Which one would (did) you pick........and why?

I got the Vapor Shark. I couldn't see a reason to pay $60 more for the Hana. I just ordered a Hana clone last night for $45 (DNA30) as a back up, so for less than I would have paid for an authentic Hana, I kinda get the best of both worlds. I have never used MY rDNA with pass through, no need really, with the magnetic door I just swap the battery. I believe you can use it while charging, but don't quote me on it.

Hana = - It's a Box with someone else Circuitry and there are Many for less. You are paying for the Copyrighted Name/Logo

Vapor Shark = This company put some serious thought into Design/Form/Function

I guess you can see where my vote would be. :D

*Note - Waiting/Hoping they will release a VS with another Chipset. My Power Vaping needs a bit more power. .3ohm/58watts :)
Until then it is MNKE's in a Tube Mod and frequent recharges.

According to battery university, it's better to not interrupt the charging cycle of our type of batteries. Using them while they are charging interrupts the cycle. Since the batteries are fairly inexpensive and the negative effects are probably minor I'm guessing it's not a big deal for most. I just thought I would throw that out there for general knowledge.
Also, don't know about vaporshark, but pretty sure hana uses a brass, fixed pin 510 connector. The clones do. Fitting a fatdaddyvapes stainless steel, spring loaded positive pin connector on a hana type device can be done. The physical and electrical connection a device uses to connect to another device is a huge consideration for me. I HATE fixed pin, brass connectors.

vapor shark, hana has notoriously bad customer service. and the vapor shark case was designed around the evolve board, its super small, neat and tidy. down the road if you can solder or are mechanically incline you can replace the board pretty easily, and not have to use 4 sticks of hot glue.

just sayin

I'm really wanting to play around with the DNA 40 chip and nickel wire. I'm just looking for something that's available with that chip and there's no clone for it. Plus, I like authentic and I like American made. I just like the look of these two. I would be open to considering another DNA 40 chipset mod, if I knew one that's American made and as good looking as the Hana and the VS. Somebody have one to suggest?

I'm not quite following your thought process because the VS is, "a Box with someone else Circuitry" just like the Hana. Only difference is the shape, essentially....and the price. The difference in materials and manufacturing processes can explain that difference, which isn't really that much money.

As for "power," if you look what's possible using nickel wire and utilizing temperature control, 'power' is not an issue. If you want to use kanthal then you're absolutely correct, it's pretty underpowered compared to many current devices. However, the whole point of the DNA 40 chip IS the new approach using nickel wire and temperature control, NOT kanthal. It's really a mod for people wanting to experiment outside the box and not for those who want to continue playing in the same sandbox we've been playing in. I've got 100w and 150w mods for sub-ohming with kanthal. This is about something else entirely. 40w through nickel wire will torch your wick pretty quick, from what I've seen; so more power is unnecessary. Especially since the chip was really designed for nickel and not really for the kanthal coil builder. They were clearly going for a niche market and not as a competitor in the with wattage regulated market.

However, it would be nice if it had the option of more wattage to be able to function as well for traditional kanthal builds as it, apparently, does for nickel.

If I'm gonna do that, I'm gonna build my own box that's better and cheaper than either.

My vote is on the Hana. I dislike the fact that the screen for the rDNA is on the bottom. To me, that just means a scratched screen all too easily, and its just not a good place for such an importand part of the mod. Having held an rDNA a few days ago, and playing around with it in the shop, I wasnt too impressed by the build of it. But thats all personal opinion more than anything else.

Well I disagree with pretty well everything you`ve posted. This is especially absurd ``40w through nickel wire will torch your wick pretty quick, from what I've seen`` Anyway said my piece and I`m not going to argue about it.

To the OP Vaporshark for the win. There is nothing on the Hana that I prefer but that`s just me.

Screen is recessed and doesn't get scratched - the screen location seems silly at first, but once you use it for a while, pretty soon all other screen locations seem silly in retrospect!
