But it's a modular device...another home grown innovation.... others will copy...

No Innovation here. Tons of consumer electronics have different size battery modules that are interchangeable.

Smart, Yes.

But......

If they would have made the batteries sealed, they would sell more and make money on the batteries too.

Most consumers dont want to fiddle with chargers, battery choices etc.

The Usb charging port could then be on the battery, not the unit. Charge one and Vape with the other.

Also the battery release button could then be a recessed Slider on the bottom, Rather than on the side.

Sealed batteries could easily be offered in 2500mah and 5000mah. Passtrough of course.

Finally, A chip that could be upgraded later on by software.

Priced right, I'm pretty sure it would have sold great.

Right behind you...
On a $50 mod, it's not such a big deal having a sealed battery, it just becomes disposable.

But most people spending in excess of $100 for a mod DO want 18650 batteries, since most folks likely to buy this device at this price point already have a collection of batteries and chargers, and don't feel the need to pay "extra" for a sealed battery, they like the "instant" recharge of swapping batteries, and don't have to deal with the long term disadvantages that come with sealed units.

You'll also note it does have a USB port so you can treat it like a sealed battery unit if you like, never touching the battery again after the initial install, if you so desire.

Croak, With a modular sealed battery you just buy a new battery, not the whole mod.

No long term disadvantage and no loose batteries or chargers. More consumer friendly.

Most vapers who are not Vapegeeks dont have 18650's and a charger and dont really want one.

So you could still have the option of small size or long battery life.

I'm talking about people in general who just want to plug and charge things. Just like their phones.

Not Vaping "Enthusiasts".

Make it a stylish kit with both Sealed batteries and a wall charger. It would sell well.

People like Easy. Even BLU makes a "Long" and a "Short" sealed battery on their Cigalikes.

From their FB page:

HANA MODZ ONE Mod (DNA 40)
The unit can be used in single 18650 mode or dual 18650 mode. The complete kit has both battery cases included.
$99 for the single unit. $109 for the complete kit with single and dual battery case. www.hanamodz.com

Hm interesting. Before I looked closer at the pictures, I thought the extra module just added one more battery rather than replacing the first one with two. Would have been a bit easier to carry around and add on as needed. With the way they've done it, if you want both options with you, you will always have a spare piece? Still a cool idea though.

I like the idea of modular batteries with their own charging circuit. And being modular no reason you couldn't have both sealed units and user changeable 18650s. Best of both worlds for different customers.

I got a friend of mine into building mods and he really took off with it. He got into 3d printed stuff shortly after starting out, and I've been really, really impressed with some of them. This Hana misses the mark compared to what can be made with 3d printed parts. It just looks plastic-y, cheap and boxy. Very Frankensteinish IMO. I thought the v4 was a nice move from Hana but this is a big miss.
