I was discussing with a non-vaper/non-smoker about the benefits I was getting from the switch to PVs and they mentioned that one thing they didn't understand was that lots of people smoke hands free, just holding the ... in their lips and dragging away, PVs don't do that.

So has anyone seen a decent APV that can work like that? I'm guessing you would need an automatic battery and a tube of some kid to go from a pocket/holster to the mouth. Would there be any issues with a long tube like difficulty getting the vapour along to the mouth?

I know you could probably hands free with the little cig-a-likes but surely you can do it with something better.

Thought this was seriously silly...until it dawned on me that I have always smoked while on my motorcycle.
Why not vape? Great idea, SPACKlick! I'm sure someone will come up with something.
Yeah, I was mostly thinking for the lads driving the forklifts, but in general, doing stuff hands free makes it much easier to do something else at the same time. With a lot of the big mods you'd struggle to vape and drive a car. with a motorbike, you've, presumably, got a helmet the hose/pipe/tip thing could be mounted to.

Or if your driving a forklift which you need to pay lots of attention too it would be god to probably not have something in your mouth puffing away Lol, Let alone a Ecig. You could always take a stop and vape and keep on liftin.
I know that, the foreman knows that but as soon as the lads get in their plant they puff. That's just the way it is.

Issue with that is that if you have a long straw, like on a foam dome, you are pulling the vapor a long way, so you have to puff a long time and get loads of condensation, really you'd want the atty clipped to your lapel or ear, I was thinking there'd be something you could do with putting the longer tube, with wiring, between the atty and an auto battery...

Non-resistance wire or a better conductor that doesn't act as a heat element connected to the vaporizer. Have the auto switch where atomizer/carto connects to cable..boom. I use to always have ear phones in before wireless were really prominent, so I guess a long wire from your pocket to mouth isn't that different.

I still think wireless AC...harness that for simple consumer applications, whew boyy... talking bout some cheese. Or if radio frequency vaporizers come back into the picture... I've never personally seen one.. also been meaning to read into them more.. It makes sense to work in a nice little package with today's tech.

Yeah, that's work reasonably well. I'm thinking a standard headset mic arrangement with extremely low resistance wires.

Battery (could be seriously powerful or just an 18350) in your pocket, cables running to the rear of the ear clip, down the piece to an autoswitch on an eGo/501 connection. Although you'd want A a 90 degree bend in your driptip and B a low weight tank and atty (no IBT 25mmXLs).

None of that sounds too hard to build... although I'm unsure about the safety, if you design it to run from a pants pocket to ear you'd need 4feet or so of wire each direction and adding 8feet of wire is going to make a difference to the system. Even from a lapel clip or lanyard it's 2 feet or so.

I'll suggest what I used initially (and still use until I upgrade) to make the switch which has the attributes that you are looking for:

Vapor 4 Life Zeus 5v Automatic Battery (different battery sizes are available- I have the 900 maH which is the medium, I think)

It has enough power to produce a good throat hit.
It is 14mm in diameter and will easily fit in a shirt or jacket pocket
It is automatic and works instantly as you drag (light draw action required vs. harder on ecig a like) - no button
The cartomizers that it comes with in the kit hold about 2.5 - 3m. of juice and don't leak regardless of orientation (ie. if it is on it's side, etc.)
The cartomizer has a silicone tip with a metal stem underneath so you can bite down and vape hands free
My battery gets about 8 - 10 hours of constant vaping on full charge (I have the 900 maH)
You can use it as a passthrough
You can use a tank
Last week they announced 510 threading coming soon
I have the 808 threading and at home I use an 808 to ego connector and mini protanks - no difference in performance of draw or activation

This might be a good way to go for your friend until he is ready to upgrade. But this battery, for me anyway, is a really good one for being out and about and driving my manual transmission car.
