I ordered a double chocolate and it's really dark brown and doesn't smell very good, so I'm reluctant to even try it. I was reading more in Danny's blogs and there's a recipe in there to make the perfect chocolate and it sounds absolutely delish but it calls for Hangsen Chocolate Cream and I can't seem to find that anywhere as a DIY flavor. I can only find it as an already mixed vape juice...does anyone know where I can buy this flavor at?

Also, was wondering if Some of you would take a minute and respond with a list of your base flavors, so I can maybe get a better understanding of the difference between base flavors, top notes and accents...

Ecigexpress used to be the only one that carried it but I no longer see it there. Glad I picked up 3 bottles last time I ordered. You can substitute any chocolate you like. The theory still applies. The point of the blog is to show how accent flavors influence and bring out charastics of your base flavor. Inawera milk chocolate will work but if you already have a favorite chocolate flavoring use that.

No favorites...the only one I even have, is that double chocolate I ordered that's really dark and doesn't smell good. I did finally find a chocolate cream but not sure of the manufacturer.

Chocolate Cream WG-INW - Bull City Vapor

I'm gonna see what I can find out about the Hangsen brand though. So far, I love all my Hangsen Flavors

That's the inawera wera gardens chocolate cream. That will work but only start with 3 - 6 drops per 10ml base. That stuff is potent but it's very good. I have some as well. Remember to steep it at least 3 weeks or 3 hours speed steep.

If the Dark / Double Chocolate is TFA .....its the one I use in an Andes Mint recipe. Its pretty good!
3% double choc
8% creme de menthe
2% Koolada
1% sweetener
All the flavors are TFA .......once mixed that dark chocolate color kinda gets toned way down to a rich caramel color..
:toast:

The double chocolate is from Signature, purchase from ecigexpress. Your recipe sounds yummy!

K...great! You have not only tried it, you have some☺ From that then, I have another question. What is different about it that you prefer Hangsen over it?

What percentage range would 3-6 drops be?

Speed steeping: I have a really good thermos I use. My tap water is 150°. I put my bottles in my thermos and fill t with hot water. I double check my temperature with a candy thermometer, befo're putting the lid on. After 12 hrs, the temp will have dropped to 120 degrees. I dump the water out, shake each bottle real good and repeat the process one more time, for a total of 24 hrs...is this adequate?

It just comes down to personal taste. I've worked with hangsen longer and I guess got more used to it's taste. But I would go to inawera if I was out of hangsen which looks likely since ecx no longer carry's it. To tell you the truth I've also used TFA chocolate and had good results as well. TFA doesn't have that in your face chocolate creaminess as the others and takes longer to come out but for specific mixes it works.

On the other hand RTS sells a hangsen "Chocolate, caramel, peanut" flavoring that works wonders for a RY4 mix and they are the only one that sells that. I've also used that in many tobacco/chocolate mixes. If your like me and don't like overly sweet RY4's this works. I'm vaping it right now in fact.

As far as your question on inawera drops. Inawera is a funny thing, It seems everyone that uses inawera adoped the drop method so I never really calculated it into percents. Actually one time I did and I was so far off it nearly blew my head off it was so strong so I would stay with drops per 10ml base if I were you. Maybe one of these days I'll sit down and figure it out but being the drop method works it's not high on my priorities. In fact inawera suggests 6 - 7 drops per 10 ml's but 3 - 6 is a good place to start for chocolate cream. See this xls attachment on inawera amount recommendations.

Just an FYI the ecigexpress Signature line is also known as The Flavor Apprentice line :)

Hahahahaha!!!! Thank you!!! So, when looking for good starting percentages on my Signature flavors, I just look to TFA...? Or do they sell it under a different name because they have changed it in some way?

Dannyv45, that spread sheet is awesome! Thank you so much!!!

I did read your blog on steeping; hence the use of the thermos . I just never went back and double checked that I was following your instructions correctly.

RY4: the only RY4s I have ever tried were the 0 mg nic testers in the retail shops and both times they were really horrible tasting to me. I hear so much about them here that I wonder if the shops just weren't doing it right or maybe they were purchasing poor quality stuff, trying to save money. The only tobacco flavor I have tried and like is the Turkish. I'm trying right now to come up with a good mix of that...I have the Hangsen Turkish Blend. Getting a slight metallic aftertaste. I have Ethyl Maltol, Magic Mask and Smooth. Would one of these work better than the others, or is that more of a personal preference thing that I have to discover for myself?

Please forgive my ongoing questions about the drops but I have a couple more. What do you use to measure your drops? The way I understand it, different gauge needles will give you different size drops and then there are the glass droppers and pipettes. Or is it just that it comes in a plastic bottle with a dropper tip and you go straight out of there?

My second question about the drops relates to the recipe itself. How do I incorporate drops into my percentage recipe? In other words, when calculating (which brings another question I'll ask after this), do I just figure out my recipe as if I were not even using that flavor? Or...If it's a recipe that calls for say 7% of another brand chocolate and I'm mixing 10 mls, I would end up with 9.3mls plus a few drops? Am I making this more complicated than it is?

The calculators: Is there a good mobile app for an ejuice calculator? The e juice me up doesn't work on my tablet

Likely just a taste your not used to. Try steeping longer they usually mellow out. I don't use Magic Mask and Smooth. I don't believe in masking a taste that I don't nessessary think is good.

As far as inawera goes measure right from the flavor bottle using the bottles own dropper tip.

Your over complicating this. If a recipe calls for percents use percents. In regards to inawera use drops and don't convert it to percents. So for instance if the same recipe called for:

Base 50/50/12mg
7% hangsen (Then use percent)
Inawera chocolate cream 6 drops (Then Use drops)

then shake, steep, vape

Can't answer that I use e-juice me up only.

eLiquid Recipe Manager is a pretty good Android one. Comes in "lite" free, and with most functions. I upgraded to "Pro" after using it a week, as it was worth it to me. I got it through Amazon for my Kindle, but it is also available for straight Android.
