As crazy as it sounds, we kinda did the unofficial Thanksgiving dinner on the 13th.
We had
*turkey breast. In the crockpot, was really tender and almost no work. I made turkey pot pie two days later with the leftovers.
*dressing. Made from my sweetie's cornbread recipe with sauteed onions, celery, mushrooms.
*asparagus. We all lurves the asparagus.
*green bean casserole. Heather loves it. I hate it.
*butternut squash mashed with butter and maple syrup
*deviled eggs. Omg, we lurve them.
*chocolate cake that has layers and icing that is exactly like real fudge. store bought.

We are spending the entire 4 day Thanksgiving holiday break preparing for an upcoming move. We are hoping to have a house bought and to be moved in by Feb. So, going through stuff, boxing up stuff that's not needed etc.

I'm bringing rolls of some kind - and dips and beer bread.

I have no say in the menu. What ever I bring has to be able to travel 3.5 hours and not need to be reheated.

The good news? This year we are coming home Friday evening because DH has to go into work on Saturday to get a presentation to his boss before DH leaves for Singapore on Monday.

I said that I'd already cooked Thanksgiving dinner a few weeks ago but ham was on sale and Heather kept putting stuff in the grocery cart. So, it looks like we're going for two feasts in one month.

I'm going to try the Alton Brown City Ham recipe
It makes a crust for the ham out of brown mustard, dark brown sugar and ginger snap cookies that have been pulverized.

Ham
squash casserole
brussel sprouts with lemon-butter and slivered almonds
mashed potatoes
mushroom gravy
pre-made pumkin pie with a pecan pie top

Wishing everyone a happy and blessed Thanksgiving!

We are having a hodge podge of stuff at our feast this year LOL my brother asked everyone (even all the kids) what they would like to see at the table this year. So far it looks like we are having Turkey and Ham, spaghetti (LOL) dressing, gravy, cranberry sauce, hashbrown casserole,
sweet potatoes, some kind of green veggies, some sort of salad, mac n cheese, rolls, and who knows what else will be there LOL We have the usual dishes plus lots of other stuff. Oh yeah. we usually have some sort of Swedish dish too. (my mom is from Sweden)
We will have well over 25 people this year.
