Thanks to the forum I have a gadget that is good to go now. And already I am refilling with my own liquid...I bought VG Benson & Hedges...it is sooooo good compared to the PG Marlboro. Very smooth, still with some TH, but not like the prefills.

I had an odd episode earlier. I had refilled a cart and installed it. The first hit tasted really bad, like alcohol smells. I read some stuff on the forum and blew out the atty, it had lots of juice in it. And I burned it off by just leaving the cart off and puffing till the vaper was gone...I guess sort of like dripping (is that the term)...I noticed that after a puff or two, the nasty chemically taste was gone.

When I put the cart back on, the taste was back...like burning fiberglass...awful. So I filled a different cart and put that in, after one drag on that cart, the taste went back to pleasant.

Does a cart occasionally go "sour"? Should I throw the offensive cart away? Or try to wash the filler (that sounds like a lot of mess, considering) What would cause the filler to create that sort of smell anyway?

I'm just glad it doesn't seem to be the atty! I'm thinking I should start thinking of getting some extras though. 8-o

What I find is there is a learning curve to refilling versus exchanging pre-fills. When you refill.. you simply have to learn to guage the level of juice.. If you fill get too dry then, the end fibers are the most exposed to the element in the atty and therefore, the heat changes something with the characteristics of the fiber. This burnt fiber taste is transfer into the remaining liquid in the cart and then when you go to refill and use it... It only gets worse. I myself do not wash any of my fill and re-use.
I have purchased poly-fill from DIYflavorshack... and after refilling a cart for six to seven times.. I simply throw away the used fill and replace the poly-fill. Basically, to extend the life of your fill... I could probably go more than seven refills but that is just my practice. Always try to make sure you refill your carts before they are three-quarters of the way gone. It will take some practice to figure what that three quarters is for you because we all drag on these things differently. I will use my titan 510 as an example.... I usually make it through a battery in a little over an hour.... I can typically go through two bats before I have to refill a cart and I am pretty much a chain vapor. I use to smoke two to three packs of marlboro red a day... so it is easy to say that I probably vape 45 to 55 drags and hour.
I hope this helps to answer your OP and sorry for being a little lengthy.
