Hard draw.

Why is it, some cartos are easy to draw thru when new, but after they've been refilled they get tough to draw thru? They're easy to draw thru when not attached to a battery or mod, but once attached I really gotta suck quite hard. I have checked and there is no batting covering the center hole. Boiling and blowing them out makes no difference.

Actually, I just noticed that they do draw much easier using my box mod.

I have a KR808-1 cartomizer vaporette and have found that if you don't put the cartomizer on too tightly - just snug it and then back off about 1/8 a turn or a little more - the draw is much easier and not as harsh.

If you take an ex-acto blade with a sharp point and - carefully! - expand the two slits in the LED cover (the plastic "ash" thingie) of the battery, it makes the draw easier as well.

I said, "carefully", because the plastic the cover is made of is very hard but also very brittle and you can end up breaking it if you get too forceful or twist the blade when it is in the slit. You want to just try to shave the slits wider slowly.

Oops - I got confused and answered the last question I saw - sorry. What can happen to cartomizerswhen they are refilled is that the tube in can become misaligned with the air hole in the end of the carto. Pop the white rubber insert off and see if you can't center the tube. Should make it work better.

I don't have the answer but every cartomizer I used on the KR8 had a hard draw. I recently bought some of the newer 510 cartomizers and same thing, hard draw. I have had people praise the KR8 and imply I don't know what I am doing. I think I am smart enough to make a logical comparison and for me I prefer the carts, not the cartomizers. The TH is way more with the cartomizers but that is not something I am looking for, I want the easy draw and tons of vapor. To each his/her own, I guess.

I've opened up my 510's for an easier draw.

First, you need a needle/jeweler's file to deepen and/or widen the four air slots on the battery connector. That's where air comes into the system on a manual 510.

Next, using a #55 drill bit(larger may work better, depends on your draw expectations) in a pin vise to open up the two side holes above the threads on your atomizer. This is where air enters the atomizer. You can't hurt the atomizer unless you drill through it. Just stop when the hole itself is done.

Then, use a #49 drill in the pin vise to open up the hole in the internal plastic disc that's above the two holes but below the coil. Go too deep, you hit the nickel foam, but even doing that shouldn't harm the atomizer.

Remove the inner baffle from the cartridge, or drill that hole larger using about a #45 in the pin vise. Use the #45 on the outer baffle at the end of the cartridge.

Just about doubles the ease of draw.

This doesn't happen on all my cartos, and most of them are fine until I refill them. Some of them never have got bad. I'd just as soon throw them when they get that way, than try and perform surgery on the battery. Cartos are much cheaper.

Are you using an adapter for it? Is your KR batt auto or manual?

My batteries are auto and the mod is manual. Also, a carto that won't draw with my standard battery will sometimes draw with my extended length battery. Also, I just got a new pass through that was a replacement, and I really have to suck hard on that bugger. I believe the pass thru has an adapter.

Using one of these 510-> 901/KR adapters with a 510 connector will significantly increase the draw.

If you look at the base of the threads of your KR batts you should see 4 pin holes. These are tiny. I don't have a needle small enough to go through them. You should try to keep them clean and find something small enough to poke thru them. That's where you get your air. As far as I can tell the hole in my KR manual batt's positive connector provides no air.

On the adapter above there are only 2 holes, but they are much larger and not prone to clogging and the center hole may allow air to also be pulled from the 510 batt thread it mates to.

You'll have to be careful but I suggest you drill out at least one hole with a 1/32" (maybe 3/64"?) bit and check the draw and if want more drill out the opposite one.

Only time I've had a hard draw on my KR808 cartos is when I put too much liquid into them. When that happens, I take a wadded up napkin, place the battery end of the cart into it and blow into the mouth hole. Once I blow out a puddle, I clean up the liquid that pooled in the battery end of the carto, and vape away.

I did find a tiny enough drill bit just the size of the holes in the end of the battery. I worked it thru each hole by hand, and it did seem to help. I believe the drill bit was a #65. I imagine a little gunk got in there.

I also figured out why my new pass through is extremely tough to draw thru. When I sent back the bad one, I left the adapter on it, so when I got my new one, it came without an adapter. I just need to get the supplier to send back my adapter.

Like Willy says increase size of holes on adapter makes my kr-808' more like the 510 cartos
I been using only 510 cartos for a few weeks and then, soon as I tried KR-808(with adapter) noticed the draw difference. Thought i had wrong adapter (still not 100% sure, no matter now) but drilled it anyway to get the air. Nice to find this confirmation.

Forgot to mention that too big of holes makes my 808's cartos draw too much air so may want to test doing one hole at a time.

I received one adaptor the other day and noticed it had only 2 holes above the threads for proper cart air. Still had to drill one of its two holes so it drew air proper.
