hard time with coils (vivi nova, pro tank, etc)

Hi, everyone

I have a Provari, an iTaspe MVP 2 also and some Egos.

Sometimes I have a real hard time with coils (vivi nova, protank, etc). I thought it could be coils I bought at fasttech but even legit ones from reknown shops. Sometimes a protank 2 ou aerotank coil can be used nicely for at the most 1, 2 days max. Sometimes hours and it fails. I do vape relatively heavy, as I used to smoke 3 packs a day.

Sometimes I just get an OPEN and I have to start a new coil.

Sometimes when I measure the Ohms, is really high like 6, 7... and its a 2ohm coil. Or a 1.2 ohm coil it reads 0.8, 0.5 and its unusable, errors in Provari, etc. as I cant go to such a low voltage with it.

I know Im using correct voltage (in iTaste its a non issue as I just set wattage).

Im going to now try Nautilus and its coils. Hoping they can last longer... Dont want to build my own coils.

Any tips? I dont think its connectivity, etc as it happens to several devices and they do work well initially. They just dont last long at all.

Dark juices and higher VG juices will gum things up faster. Just a thought.

I don't think it is the MOD. The tanks...I used to use the same. But, I wanted better flavor and that really meant rebuilding. I got one Kayfun clone and practiced while still using the old clearomizers. It was a definite step up. I just switched entirely.

The Nautilus uses different coils than what you have, but flavor is better. rebuilding, to me, is better yet.

It would be an expense...just a matter of if it is worth t to you.

If you're screwing the heads on too tightly, the coil will loosen up in the head. Make sure your coils are tightly seated, and only put the heads on the batteries "snug". Reading 6 ohms is almost always a sign of a bad connection.

Next time you have a coil go bad (resistance too low), pry off the top stem of the coil and take a look inside. Is the coil touching the outer metal "basket"? Also, if you have an ohmmeter, try measuring the resistance of the coil when it's taken out of the head.

Unless you're vaping battery acid, or vaping at 50 watts, the coil heads should last quite a bit longer than they are.

Thanks, guys. Twgbonehead, when you say pry off the top stem you mean, for example in the protank coil, that top part where theres a little plastic, right? I just a see a wire there, not sure really. or you mean really the stem, the longer part (pliers?). Wires shouldnt be touching, right?

Ill also try to clean the tanks with Isopropyl alcohol...

its normal when it is "dying" for the ohms to start to variate?

Anytime I have had bad readings like that it was bad contact on a real coil or bad contact for the 510 connection. It also happens in rebuilding if you forget to tighten the post screws tight enough.

Thanks, everyone. Not sure anymore as Im out of Vivi and Protank coils, but what I can say is, having a much better experience with Nautilus, the coils are lasting 2-3 days.
