Hello e-Ciggers. I've come to the forum due to many things. I'll try and list them order.

  1. What appears to be a very large and active community.
  2. A personal interest in vaping/smoking as a Route of Administration and reducing or eliminating the negative effects caused.
  3. A growing interest in the chemical makeup of plants. As opposed to saying tobacco is bad. I feel it is more appropriate to focus on a certain chemical(s) within the plant.
  4. Cultural differences and similarities between tobacco and pot use and the things that can be learned from each group.
  5. Discussion on the unfair taxation of tobacco products and the proposed regulation of e-cig products.
  6. Does a chemical or group of chemicals in Tobacco significantly act as MAO Inhibitors.
  7. The use of chemicals within Tobacco used by individuals suffering from schizophrenia.
  8. A place to get and add to 2nd, 3rd and 4th hand opinions on e-cig products in order to not waste money.
  9. An answer to the question does Tobacco contain Harmaline and Harmalol. I've seen some things on Wikipedia and other forums but nothing concrete. So to start out if anyone can provide me a link or info that would be greatly appreciated.
Anyways all the best everyone. I really believe forums to be the best method of sharing ideas online.

Welcome to the ECF. First off we can't discuss the other leafy derivatives here or any "illicit" drug for that matter.

For a complete discussion on those topics you should read up on WTA (Whole Tobacco Alkaloids) which some juice suppliers are beginning to add to their juices. These may well contain the MAOI's that many smokers crave. Some smokers don't seem to be satisfied with nicotine only and the WTA seems to help them. I haven't tried it, but I plan to.

There are forum sections here devoted to activism as well. We need all the voices we can get. We face opposition from very deep-pocket lobbyists and we have to stay on our toes if we want to continue to enjoy the freedom to vape.

Other sections of the forum even cover research and medicine. Pretty much anything you want to know is here or points to where to find out more.

Nothing other than Tobacco and nicotine is discussed here. Most people have little interest in the chemical makeup and do not feel the need for more than the nicotine, it's throat hit, the vapor, the flavor and aroma. However you will find some discussions about WTA (whole tobacco alkaloids).

There is a big news and Legal section discusses legislation, regulation, etc.

Sorry - I know nothing about Harmaline or Harmalol

Re buying an ecig - ignore all of the glitzy BS sites web searches find for you. There is a whole seedy upper crust of ecig sellers with no goal other than to get your money with jacked up prices on some good and many crappy or incompatible models and are willing to lie to do it.

Don't buy anything unless you know what model and threading it really is, whether that is a good and compatible model, what it should cost, and where else you can get parts and supplies for it. I will add to that, don't buy any model that doesn't have cartomizers available.

Yes I"m very interested in WTA. I wonder if it be better for people interested in WTA to focus on vaping actual tobacco. Such as rolling tobacco or pipe tobacco. In regards to MAO Inhibitors. I see a lot of talk of tobacco containing MAO Inhibitors but haven't found much mention of which MAO Inhibitors it contains?

I'm not sure if its wise trying to recreate an tobacco based real cig...we are supposed to go to an healthier type of getting the nicotine needed...without all the rest of carcinogens...

True point. But from my understanding the majority of the carcinogens are created from combustion of Tobacco. Now if Tobacco was vaped instead would this not solve a majority of the concerns raised from it's use. Don't get me wrong I think the e-cig is super cool and highly futuristic. But most people who convert to e-cigs do so from normal cigs. So normal cigs contain a varying array of chemicals. Now we can say a large majority of those are bad (mostly the one's formed from combustion). So how many are bad within a staright Tobacco vapour.

My point is trying to replace 1 chemical (nicotine) with a product once enjoyed that contained a myriad of chemicals seems to have some kinks.
