Hi guys,

So i just got my new setup, a obs crius with the new cuboid 150w. I used to vape on a ego c twist/pro tank 2. Never had any problems, throat hit with 6 mg was perfect. The problem is that i'm having a really harsh throat hit with the crius. Not a thumb in the back of the throat, i like that. But a real coughing unbearable spicy throat hit, not smooth at all. I vape at 6 mg 70PG/30VG.

I tried almost everything, lowering the wattages, different wicking, filling up the juice ports half/fully etc. The vape that i am getting is really HOT and not much vapor/flavor.

This is my build:
- Clapton wire (26ga - 32ga) 7 wraps (2mm) 0.42 ohms
- Power mode 10-20 watts

Please help!

Best regards,

Guys it worked! Bought some high VG juice no more harsh hits it's smooth sailing from now on! @Hans Wermhat, yes the ramp up time is not something to write home about at 15 - 20 watts. But at 30 i am getting a 'hot' vape. I like my vapes a little bit cool. What can i do to ramp up ramping time/watts and without getting a hot vape? Higher ohms maybe?

Yeah the heat is another thing to get used to when you graduate from the Baby Clearos, Ie Protank vs Subtank.

Have you tried opening up the airflow more ?
Build a normal .8 - .5 micro coil ...............

Higher ohm will cool the vape, BUT it can also lengthen the ramp time. Lower power setting will also cool the vape as will more air flow and relocating the coil also making a spaced coil vs contact. Might want to start testing build with steam-engine.org. You probably could come up with a build closer to the heat (heat flux) you want and the ramp time (heat capacity). Higher HF is hotter, High HC is slower. I would decide a wattage and OHM to target, then play with changes to all other changeable factors of the build, wire size, and type, Id, Surface Areas, twist pitch ect.
