I dunno what I'm doing wrong. I've been messing with this tobh since I got it 3 weeks ago. Tried all the way up to 0.8 ohms and with lower guage wire with the same results. Harsh vape that cuts up throat. I vaped 0.5 ohm and lower on my magma with PG/VG blends with no problem, but once I use 100% VG I get a harsh vape. I get the feeling its a wicking problem but I've tried with very very little cotton.

Welcome to ECF, kulaan...

Odd... 100% VG tends to be pretty smooth. Running your numbers... a 24 gauge, 0.3Ω dual parallel build pulls around 50-60 watts from an unregulated mod, with a coolish heat flux in the 200 mW/mm² +/- range, so you're OK there.

VG is has a pretty thick viscosity, and cotton isn't the best of capillary action wicking materials you can use. You can try cutting the VG with a bit of distilled water to improve capillary action, or maybe consider trying a bit of rayon as an alternate wick material with pure VG.

Plenty of Rayon chat in the rebuildable atomizer sub-forum... once you get a few more posts in, you can participate.

Crap I'm using cotton on a 3.5mm .28 ohm 24g dual coil setup right now, using 90%vg juice with no wicking issues at all. And on my doge I use cotton and 100%vg, also with no wicking issues. Lots of people say rayon is better, but I've had no problem with cotton, and I use friggin cotton balls from CVS. If anything should cause wicking problems you'd think that would be it.\

It's not so much the length of the cotton through the coils, it's the density that is of concern.

What's the ID of your coils?

Well, I think a .3 ohm coil would want to be pretty hot and harsh no matter what wick you're using. I assume you've got the air flow wide open?
Yeah wide open

Are you positive about the 3mg and high VG part? What juice are you using?
Jacob's Juice - Honey Suckle This Cucumber
Their website states 80-95% VG at 3mg Strength
I usually vape Ruthless - Menage a Trois in my Magma.

The ID of my coils is 1/8". At one point I tried to wick it with so little cotton that the cotton density was so thin, I reckon that I couldve just blown the cotton out of the coil.

Well everything seems to be in order, re-wick and shoot for medium density, and I agree with dc99. Try a different juice. Could be an error.
