Hell all, I am I'm new to vaping. I just received my eGo-T this past Thursday afternoon [fyi: 1000mAh, LR atty]. I ordered from MyVaporStore, and also picked up a few bottles of their juice, which turns out to be some brand called High Caliber. The only one I've tried so far is the Killa Vanilla. The first pull was kind of dull, but eventually the flavor came and it was awesome. However, soon after I began getting this horrible throaty harshness to the vape. Cleaning, switching attys, no matter what I do, it just wont leave.

Now, typically I smoke a chilled hookah. So I am used to an extremely smooth, almost unnoticeable smoke. Additionally I smoke Djarum cloves, which are pretty smooth. So, maybe the harshness is the 'throat hit' that everyone keeps talking about? If it is, I really dislike it. I am looking to supplant my smoking with vape, but I can't deal with the harshness. What can be done to minimize this?

You need to break in a new atty by blowing out the primer. Blow through battery end into towel or something before using. Prime the atty w/ 3-5 drops, wait a minute or two then take a number of "primer puffs" (don't inhale to lungs) to get the atty broken in. Also make sure to put 3-5 drops on the atty as soon as the taste gets funky. If you burn an atty w/o enough to keep it wet it is really nasty and harsh.

And +1 for cartomizers - the atty thing is great but takes a minute to get used to them.

Hope that this helped. Welcome!

So, I did the whole wicking thing. I dropped about 3 drops of juice directly on the wick and let it sit and soak in for a few minutes. Then I added the tank and did a couple of quick pulls to get the thing going.

Then I started vaping. Same thing again. The first 5 or 7 pulls were nice, smooth and flavorful. Then again I started getting that same harshness. It'a a scratchy, peppery harshness, and its only in the back of my throat if I inhale or in the back of my nose if I blow out through the nose. If I just pull and keep the vape in my mouth, it does not taste harsh at all.

The best I can assume here is that this is in fact the "throat hit" that everyone is talking about. It seems like there is so much conversation about what juice give the best throat hit. I don't understand why anybody would actually want that. But then again I come from the world of cloves, which are numbing, and hookah, which is super smooth.

Anyway. I suppose I'll have to make a juice order with a higher VG ratio and lower nicotine content. Looking at going with Virgin Vapor.

It could be that the tank isn't dropping juice on the atty properly. The dry hit/harshness you're getting could be a dry atty. My reasoning behind this is that you get a few good pulls that do not have the harshness. The atty is wet at this time so you're getting a good hit. The atty dries out and you pull which results in the harshness.

You may need to wait a little while in between pulls to allow the tank to drop juice on the atty. Or ditch the tank as someone else mentioned. I don't think I've ever heard anything good about the Ego-T.

The odd time i get the feeling I think you're talking about with the "peppery harshness" and it's usually right before my atty runs dry. Mind you this is when I'm dripping. I use and ego, but not the tank system. I use 18-24 nic levels, and the TH i get is different from the feeling I think you're describing. But right off the bat i would say drop the nic level down if you are used to something so smooth...maybe to a 6-8 range...

I don't have a ton of experience but i have played with most nic levels from 0-24, and I get nothing in the way of harshness when down at the bottom of that range

I opened the second eGo-T atomizer last night, brand new. I blew out the primer oil stuff and did a hot water rinse, and let it dry over night. Then this morning, I but a few drop of juice on the little wick spike and let it soak in for a while, 45 minutes or so. I then added the tank, took a few quick pulls to get it going. Then I started vaping. Well, after all that, it's all the same. I am getting lots of thick vapor, but I still have this harshness in my throat, and my makes me choke or cough half the time. Either I got two crappy atomizers, or this really is 'throat hit' and I can't stand it.

For the record, the juice I am using is the High Caliber brand sold at MyVaporStore. It's 1.8% [18mg] nicotine and a 50\50 PG\VG blend. If it's the juice that is my problem, then I suppose I'll find out soon, because I just ordered a samplepack of the Virgin Vapor juice, which is fully VG. I also ordered a 5 pack of the Boge cartomizers. Hopefully I'll receive these by the end of the week, and I can report my results.

Thank you everyone for your input thus far. Let me know if you have any further suggestions.

Going to 100% VG in a T tank could cause you to run into dry hits because the juice is too thick to wick properly. If you're confident that the atty is clean and the spike is wicking properly, I would try a 70/30 or 80/20 juice and see if that improves the flow.

It can take some time and effort to dial in the right combination of juice and hardware but you'll get there.

I use the eGo-T and the first 3 weeks I had it, I thought I was going to die from coughing. Every time I took a drag, I coughed. Water, LOTS of water is your answer until your body gets use to not inhaling 4000 carcinogens. You might want to try a 70/30 PG/VG mix too. It may be the juice brand too. I had one brand that had something in it that I just could not handle. When I vaped it, the roof of my mouth hurt, my tongue was numb and I coughed my head off.

I still use the atty/tank system occasionally when we're going out, but usually just use a carto/tank with a drip tip. It's a VERY NICE vape on the eGo-T battery. A PERFECT setup on that battery? A carto in a 3.5ml tank. The 3.5ml tank is the perfect size for the eGo-T battery. They look like they were made for each other. You can vape for hours with having to fiddle with anything. It's a wonderful, smooth vape. Here's some links if you're interested.

You're right on the money with this one. I vape 100% VG since I'm allergic to PG. It's thicker but It's very nice. I love juices from Rawr. My faves being Truth Serum and Strapple. I would recommend getting them lightly mentholated in the dropdown box. Makes for a smooth clean vape.

Hello, and Welcome. I started with my provari yesterday and did a "lot" of coughing at first too, along with a very heavy chest. I've not tried my tanks yet but am dripping. I mixed a couple menthol crystals in some straight pg, putting
a drip or two on the bridge(along with my juice of choice at the time, tobacco)

While I'm able to adjust voltage and you are not, the bit of menthol both lightened up and smoothed out the TH some.
Menthol might not work with all the flavours you have, but it may help with some.

Hope you find what works for you, Cheers!

P.S. When you first notice any change in taste,
add more juice or stop for a few moments to let the wick catch up.:2c:
