Harsh vaping

Hi am new to the forum.
Thanks for being here. My husband gave me a vape kit for Christmas. He was a smoker but now only vapes. I used to smoked cloves exclusively, but haven't smoked for many years. Anyway, It's fun and I recently got a wild hair and thought I should clean my atty, so I went online and found this form and tried to follow instructions I found about draining, cleaning with alcohol and blowing. Here's the thing, now the sensation is harsh and burns some. Did I ruin my atty? Is there something I can do or am I doing something wrong when I vape? Thanks for any suggestion and wisdom...

Hi, Welcome to ECF!

1) Probably didn't ruin the atty if it still gets hot. Sometimes you can burn out 1/2 of the atty.... Do you have another one to try?
2) Make sure you get all the alcohol out.... blow it out, or rinse it out. Dry.
3) A clean/new atty can be harsh. It takes at least a few hours to a day to break them in.
4) Burns/harshness can be from a poorly performing atty, low battery, high-nic, or flavors

What kit is is? What atty is it? What juice? What PG/VG ratio, nic level?

The kit is from Fifty-One and so are the juices; clove and green tea.
But before I cleaned the atty the green tea was super mellow. Now... not so.
I don't know for sure, but I'm pretty sure it is high, higher than I want but I couldn't get the flavor nic free or less.
It just came one way. What would you suggest? I would like to get a mellow vape
and try flavors at a low to none nic level, as I Thanks wasn't a smoker prior to vaping....

How long did you give the atty to dry out after cleaning it?

The bridge is the wire mesh that makes contact with any filler in the cartridge. It could be the atty is so clean (and dry) that the vapor feels harsh. I would add a few drops of your juice right on it and wait a minute or two and take a drag. If you "flood" the atty (gurgling sound and little to no vapor when you take a drag) you can always blow the extra juice out and add a drop or two again.

Does is have a red "Trio" on the battery? If so, it is 510 compatible. So.....

The good news is that you can use that battery with other atomizers of the 510 type. The bad news is that those atomizers suck IMHO (if it's what I think it is).

The other bad news is that I don't recommend that you vape, if you are not using it as an alternative to tobacco, but you're a grown up and can make your own decisions. Try zero nic, if you feel you must vape. Some vendors do have clove e-juice, although I don't use clove juices, so IDK what to recommend.

Good Luck!

after you clean the atty, it is important to drop one or two drops right onto the atty bridge... that should get rid of the harshness?

+1

New attys especially joye have machine oil that needs to be cleaned. Then prime it with 2-3 drops + always keep your attys wet especially LRs for long life. I been rotating 2 Cisco 1.5 LRs (306 & 510) for over 3 months and they are still working/tasting great.
