Harsher throat hit from a SR atomizer over a LR atomizer?

Hi everyone, I have been vaping for about a month now, and have noticed something that I just can't wrap my head around. I'm using the Riva 510, and at the moment prefer LR atomizers over SR atomizers, but only because I can not stand the throat hit from a SR atomizer. To me this is very confusing as it seems to be common knowledge that LR atomizers get hotter (I do feel them to be hotter, but for some reason the throat hit is not as harsh as with SR atomizers). Why is this? Has anyone else experienced this?

My SR atomizers are the EM Riva 510 atomizers from liberty flights. I use PG/VG 70/30 e-liquid from backwoods brew. I always use a drip tip with my LR atomizers (for convenience, since I always drip) . But whenever I switch to a SR atomizer, the only way I can tolerate the throat hit is by using an empty cartridge as a mouth piece.

Thanks for the response. I really doubt it has anything to do with residual primer liquid since i've been trying these SR atomizers for a couple of days each. I've even cleaned some of them with Crest Pro Health mouthwash (which has always worked great for getting rid of the burnt taste), and still the throat hit is too harsh. I really don't understand why this is happening. And I really like a strong throat hit, I used to smoke a pack of Marlboro reds, but this is something else. I guess for the moment I'll just stick to my LR atomizers that seem to have worked the best. I just find it odd that I haven't found anyone else with a similar experience. Any ideas as to what's the cause? And is there any other suggestion as to what I might do to reduce the throat hit with these SR atomizers?

Are the LR atomizers older? Atomizers degrade as caked on unwashable stuff builds up on the coil. Just like a 2 week old cartomizer has no where near the heat/hit/vapor of a brand new one. You cannot wash off the really baked on stuff on coils.

Nope, washing it won't but an ultrasonic jewelry cleaner will. I cleaned a bunch of mine and there was black pieces in the bottom...atty's came out running like new again.

LR's generally give the better TH so I would venture to guess that yours are gunked up and not producing the way they should.
