So, i received my kit yesterday and was surprised to find on my first two juices how harsh the hits are. Like, burning throat harsh. I though at first that maybe it was because I had poor technique (probably true) and have tried a number of different methods (suck into mouth and exhale seems to generally not be harsh, suck in and then inhale is a bit harsh, suck in and then inhale via french inhale has had mixed results [one juice was good, the other I thought my nose was on fire],etc.) and have tried both tanks cartomizers (the second seems harsher, but maybe the juice). below is what I received in my kit:

2 - Black 900mAh eGo 510 3.7 batteries
4 - 1.5 ohm stainless dual coil tank cartomizers
1 - 420mAh charger
2 - Black Cones
2- 3.5mL Tanks
2 - Drip Tips
1 - 10ml Tobacco 18mg e-liquid
1 - Carrying Case

I was reading in a different thread that 3.7 V may not be enough to drive the tank cartos that I received, and that the heat may also be driving harshness. ejuices that I have tried so far are the Mint Chocolate 18mg and Hawaiin Delight 18 mg, with the latter feeling way more harsh and burning my nose any time the vapor goes through it.

Open to all suggestions, let me know if you need further information. Thanks!!!

The higher nic level could attribute to some of the harshness (18 will be harsher than 12 than 6). The PG/VG ratio could also influence it as the PG factors more into the throat hit. A higher PG amount will cause more of the throat it. Additionally, you're using a low resistance cartomizer which will produce a warmer vape. Basically, it could be a combination of these factors. RosaJ brings up a good point that your carto just may be dry as well.

I just went and dripped some into the carto, quite a bit more than I expected to be able to, but it kept wicking it, so I kept adding. I suppose I was a bit worried about overfilling and leaking into the battery and may have taken too light of an approach. for reference, the juice is a 70/30 favoring VG I believe. I'll keep an eye on it, may just be a flavor i'm not ready for yet ;)

A couple thoughts -

Take smaller puffs and wait a little longer to inhale while you figure this out to keep irritation down
Drink plenty of water - vaping dehydrates you a bit at first, so a couple extra glasses will help
Do a couple puffs on the carto without power to make sure you are keeping the filler and coils wet - if you're getting a lot of bubbles it's not soaked yet

I hope you find a comfortable vape soon. Good luck!
