Most of these same substances are found in cigarette smoke.

Let's ask how do the levels in cigarette smoke compare to the levels in Vapor?

;)

Most people don't want to compare the two, unfortunately some are under the impression that inhaling artificial flavoring is a risk free alternative, especially DAP free flavorings and basically going from 1 - 2 packs of 800 known toxic compounds to 24 per say is just not enough and to those of you I ask have you ever thought of just cutting your bottle in half with vg or pg or to just be plain worry / rant free and go flavorless ?

I actually do that myself but it started as a way to make my bought juice last longer. And while I don't believe full flavor of what I vape was anything to worry about anyway it's just a bonus in the form of POSSIBLE harm reduction.

If someone can perform a study that doesn't include commercial workplace data I will pay more attention.

To add:
I lost faith in Ivy League schools when I realized you could become a Yale graduate while possessing the vocabulary of a 4th grader.

Most engineers I run into with more letters behind their name than a doctor are the same way. All the while my Grandfather could run circles around them with an 8th grade education and a little mechanical knowledge and common sense.

I just RAILED on a facebook share. I'm sure my friend merely shared it because someone important to him shared it.

My response:

"Diacetyl is a molecular compound found in many food flavorings, often butter or custard flavorings. Vapers often use liquids which may or may NOT contain flavorings with diacetyl. Popcorn manufacturers use butter flavor which contains this component. In concentrations, this has been known to contribute to a condition known as Popcorn Lung.

I have yet to come across a study indicating a vaper who has contracted popcorn lung from inhaling e-liquids containing diacetyl

However, I have come across hundreds upon thousands of individuals, myself included, who are no longer ingesting the thousands of carcinogens and other toxins in cigarettes.

Should I ever have started smoking - no, but I did. There are multiple factors as to why people do what they do.

I just knew I wasn't going to go down an hallucinogenic/suicidal path by taking FDA-approved options.

I haven't supported Big Tobacco in almost two years. My lungs and sinuses are clearer now than they have been in decades. I can even hold a note for longer than two or three measures now"

My FB friend is also the choir director at my church, hence the "snark" on being able to hold a note for any length of time....

Dr.F: “tobacco cigarette smoke contains high levels of diacetyl and acetyl propionyl, on average 100 and 10 times higher,” compared to average e-cigarette exposure.

But even more concerning for those who may want to exaggerate the risks of using e-cigarettes, is that even tobacco smoke has no identifiable link with any cases of popcorn lung.

Seems 'science' is succumbing to the mechanisms of old:

Research something the powers didn't like and you got fried on the stake. Today you don't get funded.
Less drastic but shuts you up just the same...

This is exactly why I decided against a research career. I wanted to add to human knowledge, not shill for corporations or spend a huge percentage of my time begging for funds.

And in response to that I have heard "it's misdiagnosed as COPD or other lung issues".

So then it boils down to what makes more sense, either the chemicals in question at a "recreational" level have not caused popcorn lung in smokers or hundreds of thousands of doctors across the globe have all misdiagnosed this condition a million times over. To me the more likely explanation is usually the most simple and it leads me to believe that it is not as dangerous as these articles make it out to be at the levels we used/use them at.

And that is the main reason I cannot get myself all worked up about this issue.

Don'tcha love it when the media is ripping on vaping "could" lead to BOS without a single case concluded, while in the meanwhile 100's of thousands are dying of lung cancer each year................ don't you think it's just a little ironic with all the rhetoric focusing "down" on ejuice ? seems like "someone's" not ready for a safer alternative $..........

Doesn't the DHHS (Dept. of Health & Human Services) have more important things to spend their money on? Where did they get the extra dough, since they always complain they don't have enough to cover what they're suppose to do?
Same place CDC got there's to waste on zombie preparedness?
