Would it work? They output up to 6 volts.

I don't know about this stuff but from what I've read online so far I don't see why it wouldn't work; though that doesn't mean it would lol. If it did, you would have a 6 volt high voltage mod that would activate the atomizer by cranking the handle instead of pushing a button, that would never run out of power!

Just curious if this is a possibility and if so; who's up to the task of creating it?

I've suggested using utracapacitors in the mod thread, apparently it would cause the universe to explode, or something.

(that's what powers those crank-lights).

I don't know enough about it to start tinkering. People do get stuck in mental ruts, though. If you follow the story of Carlos49, you will see the dramatic saga of one man's quest to overcome inertia. They said it couldn't be done, but he persevered. Starting with zero knowledge of e-lec-juice-ity, he became the first modder to build a home-made atomizer. The movie will be released this summer. [disclaimer - that was a joke, there is no movie]

My JuiceBox will be here on Saturday. w00t!!!

I had the idea to mod a servo to do it. Looking around I found a guy that did it with a flashlight. His capacitor is .22 farad. I think we would need something beefier. Alternatively you could just get more complex and have a battery and crank to charge the battery. Anyways this guide here explains it quite well.

Ultra capacitors have a much lower energy density than lithium batteries so I think a battery would be better. An atomizer also takes 50 times more current than a small LED flashlight.

Cordless screwdriver powered by ultra capacitor. Recharges in 90 seconds. 500,000 charge cycles.

28cm is a bit big for a mod I think. The fast charge and 500,000 cycles make it appealing though. I daresay it won't be long before they make them with comparable energy storage density to a lithium battery. That one is about equivalent to a 100mA/Hr lithium battery. I just did a fast calculation on it - with a buck/boost chip it should be good for around 500 seconds vaping with an 801 at 3.7 volts. Here's a datasheet on an ultracapacitor storage capability http://fullpowerinc.com/PDF Documents/Ness360.pdf
