Since starting DIY I've found that I have a lot more control over my addiction to nicotine. I started smoking in 2012, and it only took a month before I was on pack a day. The longest I have gone without nicotine is probably about 3months of cold turkey. I've been vaping since 2014 and exclusively for the last year. Currently I make a 6-7% batch of 12ml juice which lasts me the entire day (dual micro coil on tsunami rda at 0.36ohm 45W).

Now, I have been curious as to what life would feel like without nicotine. I can't say it's really causing any issues for me, but its been so long since I wasn't dependant on it. Could it be that my stress levels reduce? Less anxiety, better sleep? Or would I just be creating uncessesary stress in my life and removing one of life's little pleasures for no real gain? Some argue that nicotine is a good cognitive and mood enhancer, writer Stephen King claimed his spark was forever lost when he quit smoking.

If I were to attempt it, it wouldn't be an easy task. I hate PG and as most know low nicotine and high VG is like smoking air. If I were to cut down, 5%, 4% and so forth I would probably just end up dripping more to get that throat hit. What was it like for you?

I did. I started at 18 mg, and gradually weaned myself to 0 ml 12/28-2015. Been vaping 0mg for almost 7 months.

I started at 1.8% (18mg/ml) over a year ago. I gradually reduced it to where I'm at now. 0.1% (or 1mg/ml). I do have some zero around that I'll drip, but I've never tried zero in a tank. After I hang out at 0.1% for a month, I'll drop it down to 0.05%. Getting that low is a pain to measure when your base liquid nic is 10%. The goal is zero. I think I'll still vape though.

I used to keep zero Nic key lime pie for late at night vaping so I could sleep. You could try having a tank of zero around to switch too and see how you like it :) Sometimes it is very refreshing with a flavor you like.

This actually might be something to try. Make a zero that you really like for flavor, and keep a tank ready to go. Use your nic juice as normal. If you were one of the "accidental" people, you might find yourself reaching for the zero instead of the nic just because that's what you are craving. If it doesn't work out, you can always add the nic back in or just take your time on the zero until it is gone.

And this right here is the beauty of vaping. With smokes, the only way we could cut down is to smoke less. For me....very hard to do. Each time I tried that method I found myself smoking more. With vaping we can fine tune everything and that is just one more of the things that make vaping work and work so well.

Measuring the nic for your very low nic e-liquid would be easier if you mix up a much bigger bottle at a time. I mix up a 120ml or even 240ml bottle of unflavored just a tiny bit higher nic than I am wanting it to be once I add flavoring. Sure makes it easy when you need to mix up a new bottle. Just add the flavoring to your working bottle and then fill it from your pre-mixed bottle of base.

We lowered our nic cause I was buying better delivery systems and my body was reacting to the overnic.
Started with ego/CE4 kits and 24 nic chinese juices to kick the cigs, vaped for a couple months.
Bought protanks and mechs, learned to rebuild the PT coils so I went down to 18nic and my wife went down to 12, vaped those for about a year and a half happily.
I bought some kayfuns and russians, I went down to 12 nic but my wife didn't like refilling the kayfuns so she stayed on the PT2s but wanted to drop down to 6nic. I vaped kayfuns for almost a year at 12nic
Kanger subtank kits showed up from a coop buy and our vaping changed again. We now have great attys that are easy to rebuild and produce a great vape so again with better delivery system and coil builds(clapton)we had to drop our nic to 3 for my wife and 9 for me. With DIY my own juices for the last year, rebuilding coils for the last over 3 years, my wife's and I vape experience has been nothing short of a top shelf experience.
My wife does talk once in a while about going down to 0nic but I can't yet since that nicotine is the edge that keeps me from doing 25 to life for murdering one of the many idiots I run into on a daily basis. :)

I've been vaping for about two and a half years now and like most people started at 18 milligrams. Like Alter said, moving to more efficient devices steadily led me to use less nicotine... Now at 0.05 for the past 6 months.

I'm not all that motivated to move to 0 because the research does not seem to show that nicotine really is any more problematic than caffeine. Still, what I found about vaping low nicotine is that I really don't miss it as long as I am using juices with strong flavors.

Zero= what is the point. Anyone (even subohming) using 3mg or less could actually walk away from vaping once they have positively been removed from the inclination of lighting up. I smoked 2 PAD for 35 years, found it hard sitting through a 2 hour movie where I couldn't light up. I have been vaping 5 years (18mg for 2, now 11/12mg for 3 and that is my nic happy spot) and find it absolutely no prob sitting through a 2 1/2 hour movie in a theater. It is the rest of the junk in combustibles that is the "evil make ya grind without me" stuff that the focus on stopping smoking should be about. I ain't abstaining from nuttin honey. I think folks that are too overly concerned with their nic are over thinking a bit, still slave to being reminded of the stinkies. They should appreciate and soak in what vaping has to offer. VAPE ON!

It's been so very easy for me. Two years ago I started out with 24 mgs of nicotine. I am so proud to report that I now have it all the way down to 24 mgs of nicotine....

I vape 2ml a day of 18mg. My cutting down days are done also. That's where I enjoy it so that's where I will stay. After smoking for over 40 years I think my body can handle 36mg a day.

i smoked 2 packs a day for 35years, started vaping at 24mg,, in about 6 weeks i went to 12mg without trying as my tastebuds healed. found i liked flavor more. as time went on my taste buds continued to gain control and i kept going down with nic. i vape 0 nic most of the time. i vape 1-3mg when i get stressed out.....
i find i like vaping more than i did smoking. i started vaping Nov 20 2015,, i instantly stopped smoking,, it was unplanned/a lark. i never intended to quit smoking as i liked it,, and i tend to be in 'deep thought' when i smoked.

i feel vaping has given me a second chance with my life / health. i have never had smoking related health issues......i am just lucky that way.

the vaping 0 nic is more about keeping the physical aspects satisfied so i dont return to smoking. i keep nic in an eye drop bottle just to dose as needed / wanted.

good luck on your journey,, your path may take you all over the place,, but you will be better for it. many people have been vaping for years at levels that make my head spin.. but that is the right path for them.

i vape 30mls min a day,, on flavor mixing days i can easily hit 50-60mls

I started out with 24mg in a tiny cig-a-like going on 5 years ago. After a couple of months and getting better equipment I went down to 18. Within a couple more months I was making my own e-liquid and mixed some flavors at around 12, some at about 6 and others about 15. I keep one topper filled with 24mg unflavored and still enjoy it from time to time. I keep my favorite Vanilla Custard at a pretty steady 12mg and it is the one I reach for most often.

The ability to fine tune our needs/wants is one good reason as to why this miracle works for folks in all walks of life. There is no right or wrong way to do it since there is a way for everyone. Finding the path that works can be daunting but the rewards are so very worth it once you find your happy place.

BTW I met Stephen King when I was a kid. Nice guy! I been smoking since I was a teenager 16 years old. Im now 36 Started vaping a cigalike in 2010 or so.. And I been fully vaping for a year and a half or so. I started vaping 24 mg's Then I went down to 12 mg's Then I went down to 3 mg's Barely even noticed the change. The only thing is when I lowered my percentage of nicotine I tend to vape more. I just recently went back to up to 6mg's so that I can save money. Some juice company's charge crack prices for something that is just as good as candy. I hope e juice prices go down soon. Nicotine craving's are ....ty and not fun and I get anxious from no nicotine, but it's like any other drug you wean yourself down and your body adapts to it. How do you think ...... addicts stop taking ......, they wean themselves off with methadone or suboxone therapy.

Happy Vanilla Ice Cream Day!

I've cut down to 0mg but went back to nic juice.. I couldn't do it fast though or I'd just start vaping like a madman. Go down 0.5mg every 6 weeks and you don't even notice you're cutting down... once you get really low like 2mg keep a second tank with let's say 6mg for stress time and you need a bit more nic.
