I don't know how safe it is, but I've tried steeping mint leaves in pg before. You do get a very slight minty flavour, BUT the "greenish" taste of vege/leaves/cut grass seems to more pronounced. Not my cup of tea. The longer you steep, the less the mint flavour and the stronger the "greenish" flavour. If you crush the leaves, the green flavour is even stronger.

Again, I want to stress that I DO NOT know if it is safe to vape or not. I only tried a tank or two of it.

Hmmmmmm, the extraction of the "peppermint" would involve producing an oil which would include many compounds including menthofuran which is highly toxic and can metabolise to other intermediates that can damage the liver. The spearmint flavourings that you are used to (spearmint gum) are made from the R-enantiomer of carvone, as it happens the S-enantiomer tastes and smells of caraway seeds but to the untrained eye the compounds look identical. I knew that hard as nails chemistry degree would come in handy one day :) Verdict: spin the wheel and play the game.

***UPDATE***

NO, NO, NO, after a bit more investigation:
