One of my favorite liquids is v4l's wow peppermint, tried a few different test batches to replicate it. I got vapor production down perfect but I can't seem to nail the peppermint flavor yet.

Been trying with Perfumer's Apprentice at 20% but the flavor is more sharp then I want and it has more of a alcohol type taste then sweet. I added some Ethyl Maltol to try to bring it down and sweeten it but even 5 drops in 5ml didn't have much affect.

Has anyone had better luck with a peppermint flavor?

I happen to have a peppermint oil ( not a water based flavor). I took 5 drops of the flavor and mixed it with about 5 drops of vodka ( you could try PGA ). Shake in a sperate container, it will look a milky white color. Now use this mix as a flavor from 5% or more depending on your taste buds. BTW your final mix will not be white, but clear. The alcohol will help get the oil to mix with the PG/VG.

Tasty Vapor has a really good peppermint doubler (no nicotine in it) just choose a custom mix and then the peppermint. You'll then have to add your own level of nic though. Or you could choose peppermint in custom with a level of nic of your choosing. I love the doublers because I can mix my own and experiment with flavors.

It's a really strong flavor! Intense like The Atomic Cinnamon flavor TV makes.

Add a few drops of double chocolate and tada... Peppermint Patty :)

I use Faires Finest peppermint oil (NOT the extract).

25% VG 4% Flavor/about 10 drops per 6 ml

Peppermint oil (FF) 100%
1 drop of Ez-Sweetz per ml (6ml - 6 drops)

For 6 ml, .25 Peppermint Oil (FF)
6 drops Ez-Sweetz (www.ez-sweetz.com)/Splendex.net's

The taste is not a super strong peppermint and since this is oil and not the extract you do not need a lot of it. Its more like Brachs Star Brites peppermint candies which are my favorites. Since developing this recipe it has become my all day vape. If you want to add a vanilla undertone, you can add some Capella's custard vanilla. I add 8-9 drops out of the capella bottle per 6 ml. Let it age with bottle closed for 1-2 days. This has been my all day vape all summer.

Well the problem is I don't want to use peppermint oil, one I just don't want to be inhaling it and two it tends to ruin cartomizers. PA's peppermint is water soluble and in PG base, but it's flavor just isn't right and with the amount of sweetener it takes to make it sweet then you just get a chemical sweetener taste.

Going to try some Flavour Art peppermint eventually it's PG based as well. Kimmers over at DIY shop is going to order me a bottle next time she places an order but could be awhile since they come from Italy and shipping is pricey.

Wish I could figure out the peppermint flavor v4l uses in WoW Peppermint, somehow I don't think they would tell me lol.

I make peppermint for my whole family now and I am also a big fan of WOW Pep...this isn't exactly the same but it's got the not so harsh sweet taste that reminds me of the WOW stuff:

75/25 PG/VG = Base

I used 85% Base + 10% PA Peppermint + 5% PA Cotton Candy and added 2 drops of PA Sweetener per ml

So for 10 ML:

8.5 ml Base
1 ml Peppermint
.5 ml Cotton Candy
20 Drops Sweetener

You can always add a little more peppermint if it's not quite as minty as you want. But this is good as a sweet base. I use this for Wintergreen and Spearmint recipes as well now.

Have you tried ez-sweetz? I think it's the same thing as PA's but a lot more concentrated. I find one drop of Ez-Sweets 5-6 ml of juice is plenty sweet. I think they still have a deal where you get a small bottle for free. (I had to pay shipping but if I remember that was only $3..00.

If all you need is a little sweetness that may do the trick for you.

I have been using peppermint oil as the flavoring since last May. I have not had any problems with using it. A very small amount is needed to get plenty of flavor. I use my smallest dropper to measure it. I know that Geoff at TV using "oil" based flavorings in the Kretek and Atomic C/red hots. I am sure he uses peppermint oil in his peppermint e-liquid, but his is stronger than mine. PA's peppermint flavor has a strange taste which I do not like. Also, I do not use over 35% VG in any liquid I make that using an "oil" base flavoring. I also make my own Kretek/Clove juice. I have some that has been aging for over 2 months and the eugenol oil has not separated on top. I should vape it but can't drag myself away from my peppermint. The addition of vanilla custard strangely makes it taste really good kinda like candy peppermint ice cream that you can only buy at x-mas, at least where I live. Linda at PA now has it for sale and from my phone conversations with her back a couple months ago, is using the same formulation as Capella's as she had Capella's analyzed to see what ingredients it has in it. I ordered some and will see how they compare.

You are correct. I spoke to Linda about this and she even ordered a sample. Linda's is not nearly as concentrated as Ez-Sweetz. The lab(s) she uses seem to not understand that flavorings need to be made more concentrated. She told me she was going to see if the lab could make a stronger version of the sweetner she has now. Home has the same thing as Ez-Sweetz but cheaper. I have them both and both taste the same. 3 1oz bottles for $20 which would probably last several years if used just to make juice.

I really want to add peppermint oil to my juice, and I don't think it'll be a problem since I use it constantly (tons of it) on my body for various aches and pains, headaches, colds, and upset stomachs...but what is the problem with using it with more than a 35% VG liquid? Is there a health risk, or is this simply because it ruins your atty?

With more VG than 35%, the oil tends to separate on top of the VG. If you do not shake the liquid a lot before using you will end up putting a much higher concentration of oil on your atomizer which will harm the atty. Before getting into DIY I purchased a few bottles clove flavored liquid from a popular vendor and it ended up separating. I could actually see that each bottle had slightly different amounts of clove oil. I ended up throwing them all out after trying some out of 1 of my bottles killed my atomizer and was super strong clove taste which was a waste of over $50 purchase. I use peppermint everyday. Its pretty much the only thing I vape now. Been vaping it for over 4 months and have not had any problems with my atomizers or noticed any health effects from it. I have almost used 1 oz of FF pepermint oil since last May.

I've been adding about 4 drops of Loranns peppermint oil to my (not so pleasing) tobacco juice in a 3ml bottle with about 25 drops of VG. Has a nice peppermint flavor to it...and sweet tast to it..been vaping that now for alittle over a month...havn't burnt out my atty yet. If I really had to give it a name I would give it more on the lines of a light Altoids flavor

I use Perfumer's Apprentice PG Peppermint flavoring and I've managed to back it down by mixing for flavor at 20% by replacing half of that flavor with Ethyl Maltol in PG suspension so its really 10% flavoring/10% Ethyl Maltol. Then I add five drops of Menthol per 10ml to bring back some of the coolness of the Peppermint.
