There's a video here on how to use the Professional Deluxe Coiling Gizmo. I know that most of you guys are pros at it and will probably laugh at it but I was thinking about people with arthritic hands that can't manage that well. I was just wondering if they work and if anyone has had good results with it.

everyone who has one has had good results with it. i would recommend one to any new vaper or seasoned vet alike. if you want more coiling diameters, artistic wire sells another one that doesn't have the table clamp, but includes a 2mm coiling handle. (i think it's 2mm, but either way, it's another appropriate diameter for our purposes.)

This is basically the same as armorers have used for over a thousand years to make rings for Maille.

Very old tried and true tech and it is still useful.

There are also several coiling jigs out there made by vapers for vapers including the Dark Zero jig and several close copies, The Puck and numerous other one offs made for personal use and one I made out of fence wire, but can be made from a coat hanger.

another, cheaper version of the one the OP linked to is here:

Amazon.com: Artistic Wire Coiling Gizmo(R) Deluxe Winder for Jewelry Making: Arts, Crafts & Sewing

There are also drill bits screw drivers and other round rods in use, heck, I could make a jig in a minute with a piece of wire, a wine cork and a thumb tack!

Be careful if you decide to order one. There are two models, the Deluxe and the Econo. The Deluxe comes with 5 rods, the Econo comes with only two. For some reason on Amazon the Econo costs more than the Deluxe, and the Deluxe is the one with the U-clamp, the Econo model requires you to screw the clamp into something.
