Have 510, thinking of Ego?

I currently have a 510 and while I do like it, I am looking for a better battery life. I don't want to mess with LR atty's right now, or drip tips, or anything but the standard batts, atty's, cartos (if I can use them with an Ego), and carts.

Now, what besides the obvious ego battery, do I need to get so it will work with my 510 atty? Anything?
I know I must get a different charger, but other than that, are there adapters I need? If so, why?
Thanks!!

You don't need any adapters, just ensure you get a new charger. I was also confused with this. Mainly because Totally wicked for some reason wanted to sell me some kind of adapter. When I got my Ego starter kit I realised that the battery fits perfectly into regular 510 attys.

There is one thing to know... The charger is essentially 2 components. Like with your 510 kit. There is the wall part, and there is the usb part. The 510 wall part is not what you need to replace. Its that USB part of the charger

Check this 510 USB part has the following ratings:

INPUT: DC 5v 500mA
Output : DC 4.2v 150MA

The Ego kit USB part has the following ratings:

INPUT : DC 5v 500mA
Output: DC 4.2v 420MA

Notice the differance in MA output... the Ego USB part has a 420MA, and that is the differance!

notice both wall parts have the same rating: they output 5v 500mA, and are interchangable.

Essentially this is what you need to replace: http://www.ejuice.cz/utils/show_picture.php?id=59&w=650.

While this part (the wall part is completely compatible) : http://www.ejuice.cz/utils/show_picture.php?id=68&w=650.

Hope this clears things up

LR atties don't work on regular 510's, so you're right about that. My personal experience is an Ego with a regular atty can deliver just as much vapor as any 5v mod I've ever seen out there (even on the 650mha battery). If you get an Ego you absolutely won't be sorry. Possible alternative could be the Riva, but I don't have direct experience with this. I have a Hello Ego, and love it.

lastly I never use USB to charge the EGO, I always plug it into the wall. I'm not even sure if USB can output the correct 420MA required to charge an Ego.

Maybe the cone also, it's like 2 bucks and gives you a better draw.

I'm also in the same position as you, looking for a bigger and better battery. I ended up going with an eGo battery, getting the charger and the cone.

It was either that or a box mod with the 14500 battery in it, but the 14500 had the same mAh as the ego battery i was getting (both @ 900 mAh)

Thank you for all the info!! It does clear things up :)
I am definitely going to "move up" from the 510 battery, mostly for times away from the home, out with friends, ect., when it is VERY inconvenient to try and recharge batts. And the cone as well.. looks a little sleeker with the cone in my opinion.

One more question: Cartomizers..are those a special kind too or can I use a reg 510 cartomizer as well?
Thank you all again very much for your help!!

You can use standard 510 cartos, but I believe they cannot be used w/ the cone(too short). I love the eGo mega cartos, and I am expecting to get my eGomega atty/carts soon. The eGomega cartos/attys are well sorth trying out, they hold twice as much juice as 510 cartos, and produce much more vapor.

Where do you purchase the mega attys and carts? I am looking at Cignot right now, and don't see them? Maybe I'm missing them somewhere..

I must also point out that a totally wicked salesperson told me that the mega tornado battery delivers more vapor than a regular 650mha battery. As far as I know guys this is completely misleading. One battery lasts longer than the other, thats about it.

Very misleading, the TW Tornado is a Joye eGo. Hope someone hada talking to about that. lol

This page: Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store. FWIW, myfreedonsmoke.com has a 40% off coupon for eGo batts. They also have a great price on cartos and such. code- "smoke". Cignot is great, and I wouldn't hesitate to order from them however.

I got my 510 Friday and ordered an eGo battery/charger yesterday. As long as I'm sitting at home recharging isn't an issue but when I go out it is so I got the eGo battery to cover that. Also, it strikes me that if the power should go out for several hours I am going to be stuck.

You are absolutely correct! I have a PCC but even that doesn't stay charged forever

Thanks LowThudd for the heads up on the coupon code! I will be ordering this weekend - can't wait!

Where did you get a cone for $2? That's a great price.

Do you think the regular size cartomizers would work with the cone if you used a short drip tip? Just trying to find out how much (1/2 inch?) the cartos miss clearing the top of the cone by.

Re mega ego cartos, how do you think they would fit / work with the Riva and the KR808D-1 style eGos (Defender, Elegant) using an adapter?
And --even though it might look weird!-- could the mega cartos be used on a regular e-cig?

Thanks!

Hey Villager, I'm sorry it's not $2, it's $3 if that makes a difference :p

Also I got the Mega ego 900 mAh battery for $18 and a wall charger for $4 all from Tasty Vapor. It should be here in the mail tomorrow hopefully :p

under accessorys joe and then carts and attys they also carry the mega battery now which should allow you to vape like a full day and half or even two days.

All good advice and all so far, but...what's this about cartos and cones?

All the 510 cartos I've bought stick out from the cone plenty. EDIT: about 1.5cm. Actually, it makes it look more like a cigar since the cone is closer to your mouth (my lips don't touch the cone tho, barely). I use Boge soft-tip 510 cartos from litecig. Also used an 808 adapter and vapronine turbos before 510 cartos came out.

Second the getting a high-output ego/tornado usb charger, makes a big difference esp. if you're gonna plug it into your car so you get more charge out of your commute.

There are some very inexpensive clone parts at tastyvapor.us....they're not genuine Joye but they work well enough for me. I had one 900mAh battery die the first day, but was quickly replaced and the new one is working great.

Cheers!

I'm also considering moving up to the eGo. Cignot's $69 deal for the 2 Complete eGos Kit is almost too good to pass up. I'm also contemplating going all in and making a big jump to something like the Omega although as a Michigander, the GLV2 is appealing to my "support Michigan business" philosophy.

One step at a time may be the best way to go, though.
