1. what is the max volts you can slap on a atty and still be useful? 5-6v?
2. whats the max volts you can give an atty before it goes "poof" lol?
3. whats the best atty to use for a mod/and just overall 801,901,510?
4. can you post some sites where to get the needed parts please... such as regulators,wires,l.e.d lights and such...
i have this site for batt. threads is this a good one??
AltSmoke | Personal Vaporizer 510 Battery Thread - Battery Threads - Mod Shop

thanks again for helpin a nub out :) i have a few (what i think) would be great ideas.... some may not look to good cosmeticaly, and one or 2 i would try to make look cool and good function, but i dont wanna say until i try it out first... so i dont make an .... outa myself lol.

ill have to take a looksie at that nicostick "parts" post ... see if there are any sites in there ..?

damn that sux, i was hoping 7-7.5 volts would be ok lol. guess that takes out one of my main ideas :(

hmmmmm ok, still got the atty question though .. which one is the best to use for mods and or better overall??

also i see some mods have 3.7 volts with 2 batts and some are 5 volts with 2 batts ... how do you do this like wouldnt 2 3.7 volt batterys be over 7 volts then?? i must be missin somethin.

show me some luv please :):wub::wub:

side note: i have a battery pack, but its 7.2 volts is there any way to surpress the other 2.2 volts to make it 5 volts even ??

Atomizers are definitely a personal choice, as I said above. You'll get as many "this is the best atomizer" answers as there are posters here.

Multi battery mods that run 3.7v have the batteries wired in parallel (both positive terminals wired together and both negative terminals wired together). This gives you 3.7 volts and extends the duration (mAh).

Voltages higher than that are batteries wired in series. Think of an old C-cell flashlight in your kitchen drawer - those batteries are connected in series, with the positive terminal of the bottom battery touching the negative terminal of the top battery. That gives you 6v (for 3v lithium batteries) or 7.4v (for 3.7v lithium batteries).

That voltage is then taken down to 5v by either a resistor (most useful for 6v setups) or by a voltage regulator (most useful for 7.4v setups).

thanks mnealtx!!!!!! i really appreciate the help ... only you robert and opus lmao.....

i musta forgot you said that about the attys... being the best...

i liked your explanation there lol, so then a 7.2 volt battery pack with a regulator on it should work then right??

also ... so what if you wired ... 2 3.7 volts parallel and 2 3.7 wired in series, then wired all together wouldnt this give you a 5 volt mod with longer duration ?? sorry if its not right and im a dumb ... lmao

I agree, nerf, here on this forum, also sells some parts and will point you to his step by steps as well.

I prefer the 510 atty even at 6v, but I hear te 801 is optimal at hv's as well. I only have used 801 at 3.7v and it works good, but its a lil harder of a draw. I love a warm vape, so 510 is best for me. I can say that most agree the 901 is great, but only lasts a few weeks at 5-6v's.

Post pics of ur mods, cant wait to see, good luck!

Also, radio shack sells the batt boxes, soldering irons, LEDs, resistore, Diodes, everything but the connector and batts!!!! I get my batts from dealextreme or batteryjunction and my connectors from altsmoke.com or nerf...

I can say that most agree the 901 is great, but only lasts a few weeks at 5-6v's.

not trying to disagree, but my BE901 attys from bestecig seem to like 5 volts. i just finished my 3.7v cell phone mod and it leaves me wanting.

this same 901 atty has been going strong at 5v w/ a passthru for months, and i have ran 6v thru it using an AC/DC wall plug as well as 2 cr123s. and this atty has been going strong for over 9 weeks. it's the only one i use. and all i do for cleaning is a dryburn of no more than 2.5 seconds

ya just gotta keep them wet and quit vaping at the first hint of that burnt taste. atleast it's been working great for me, and personally i find for my vaping habits the BE901's seem to outlast the SLB901's but ofcourse each users milage will vary.

try the BE112 attys on a 801 setup... i believe they are thread compatible and they are they defacto standard for many of the experienced modders. the BE products seem to be able to handle higher voltages better than same models from other manufacturers.

these are just my experiences.... since we are humans we are all gonna perfer different things.

No, you would need to keep the voltages matched. If you have disimilar voltages, they will try to equalize between the battery packs. That could have some ugly consequences.

Your 7.2v pack with the regulator wired up to it should work fine.

damn lol was hoping to have an idea there .... with the 5 volts and 4 batts lol

but if all goes well with this 7.2 mod .... charging pshhhh i wouldnt hhave to charge it only once a month prolly. hope the regulator works lol.
this will be more of a novelty peice, as it will not be small and not easily carried. ill making it more to just sit on my desk, since i vape like no tomorrow while on my computer, and i spend to much time on this thing lol. hmmm maybe ill make some long tube from the cart ... to go with it so i dont even have to lean forward or pick it up lmao (holy lazy )

anyway thanks for the help and help with the parts.... if i need anymore help i just post it in this thread.
well one question, do you use radioshack online or does the actual stores have parts too??

I'm overseas, so I bought all my parts online.

If you decide to use 'normal' AA sized batteries for a future mod, I definitely add my recommendation to Nicowolf's in regard to the AA box with on/off switch mentioned in her thread. I've built 2-battery series and parallel nicosticks using a 3AA box - there's a thread about the parallel one, here. I describe a series-battery build (no pics, sorry) in the last post. The 3AA box is nice because it leaves you lots of room for your switch, regulator and atomizer connection.
