Have any of you guys tried this "petri" build with Rm2 ?

This is not reinventing the wheel. To be honest it kinda looks like a kayfun type build.

No comment on like/dislike riptrippers but I came across it on his youtube page. Click his recent videos and its within his last 7 videos(if interested or curious). I'll include 2 pics here.

The one interesting thing which is tough to explain is that he lines up the airhole on the side of the top cap so it goes through the middle of the circular coil. (The coil does not have a wick in it).

I know a similar build must have been done since the first week rob had his Rm2s on the market by someone I just haven't seen it before.

Any experience with this build on a Reo? And if good how do you wick it?. Same as he did or differently? - (He doesn't use any wick through the coil). Just kinda wraps the wick all around the outside of the coil.

I can't imagine this is a earth shattering build lol but just wondering.....

I tried a coil build called the dragon thst had dual coils with no inner wick.. just wick wrapped around kinda like thst and it sucked bad.. basicly no vspor as it was chocking the coil! Smothering it.. I could not get it to work right till I removed the wick and shoved a piece in the coil as always.. then it was a good vape.

Honestly, I don't have the RM2 or I would try real quick. I think the build itself being done that way would be good to do, but the wicking is just welcoming a dry hit in my opinion. So I'd do what steamstack said, do the build that way, then wick it like you normally would with cotton through the coil.

Don't have an RM2, but I have wicked that way several times. I've got chimney coils in my Delta II and Subtank Mini wicked like that now and I've had great results with my Magma too. Had mixed results with Dragon coils, more bad than good, but when it's good it's great. The coil placement / air flow placement is critical for it to work. Never had a problem with dry hits, but you have to have the airflow aimed directly through the coil or it's not any good. That's why it works best with bottom airflow attys and chimney coils. Thanks for posting, I'll check out RIP's video, maybe try something like it on an Odin.

After watching the vid I realize the wick isn't wrapped like a chimney, but is stacked. This would do good on a dripper. but I doubt wicking like this would work well with a squonker. With a two post atty I bet the build works well, just need to wrap the leads outside the posts instead of folding them inside, and then wrap the cotton around the coil using just one piece (maybe trim the insides of the tails for a better wrap if that makes sense) and leave a decent length of tail on the deck. The key is the airflow aligning dead center of the coil.

Thanks for responding guys! I was going to try it like the first responder said with the cotton through the coil but EzinTn saying that kinda defeats the purpose of the airflow configuration......lol....Hmmmmmmm.

Yeah I tend to think it won't be show stopper with a squonker as well.... I feel old that no one owns a Rm2 anymore. Time for me to research some attys that go with my non lp grande .

Coilporn friend : have you seen the instagram group or guy that's actually called either vapeporn or Coilporn (I forget) - some of the sickest coil porn I have ever seen.!!!!'mmm That's the only reason I go on Instagram is to follow Dan Bilzerian and to occasionally look at some vapeporn.

Whoa what do you mean no one owns an RM2 anymore? Not only do many of us own them, we give em a good work out every day.

Interesting idea on the coil might try it sometime.

Love my RM2 also. Gets daily work (play). Just haven't tried this build. But you try it and work out all the bugs with wicking and let us know K?

I did something similar with a micro coil wrapped on a .050" form and stuffed it inside a short piece of 3mm RxW. It worked OK but not great for my long lung hits. It needed to have a larger ID that I never got around to trying to do. Not a lot of odd ball builds I haven't tried during the going on 2 years I've been doing my own builds, but most of them were not really worth the extra trouble IMO. KISS is usually... better.

RM2 is my daily driver here, although I have and enjoy other atties I still like the RM2's the most!

We used to do a build like this on the RM2... was in the micro coil thread and I think it was called a SHOTGUN coil or something like that. Think of the end of the coil centered on the air hole and the back of the coil raised up. So, on inhale the air would rush through the coil and shoot directly at the drip tip.

The coil was either wrapped with cotton or sat on a bed of cotton. I tried it a couple times but was less experienced then...

Using my RM2 as well! It gives unbelievable flavor and vapor, and fires like a canon! Been using it for along time, and have no plans of changing.
