Have I been sold a VAMO knock off?

Hi ECF,

For my first mod I have just received a VAMO V5.

It performs really well and I am happy with it.

However, it came in a box that just says "Advanced Personal Vaporizer" and not "VAMO"

All the videos/reviews I have seen, it always comes in a light brownish box with VAMO written on it.

I am starting to think it is a knock off. Can anyone confirm my suspicions?
(sorry if this is fairly obvious but I'm still quite new to vaping and I'm really not sure)

Haven't got a vamo so can't compare but from your description I would say so.
Where did you get it from?

I got it from what I thought was a reputable vendor. I have bought all my vaping supplies off them so far and haven't had any issues.

I would rather not say exactly who the vendor is at this stage until someone can confirm that it is a knock off. I don't want to un-necessarily tarnish their name.

Thanks for your input.

Confirming - VAMO is not a "protected" name coming from a single manufacturer.
I know - that's weird - but it's a "western" device, and our patent laws just don't apply.

I did think the swirls were particular to the V3, but from the looks of your box, it's possible that THIS manufacturer simply uses V5 specs but has options for all different finishes including the swirl.

Might as well name the vendor - people may know more about their sourcing and reliability, etc.

Bottom line for a VAMO - if it's got the features you expected and it works, you got a VAMO!
If the swirl design was a surprise, you could contact them to complain - but it's cosmetic difference and not an indication of quality.

I got an ugly VAMO in a trade. The finish is "wearing through gun metal". It's got to be about a year old.
It works perfectly.

Thanks all, I'm feeling better about my purchase now.

I got it from vapeking.com.au

I ordered the swirl pattern so it is exactly what I wanted.
I was just a little concerned that it may be a dodgy make and not last very long.

All the features are present as described in the VAMO v5 Vids/reviews that I have seen so I think it should be ok.

Thanks again.

Just had a look of a pic of a vamo. Yours seems to have unnecessary groves around its body compared to a true vamo

That is the spiral version.

Looks exactly like mine except mine is more a mirror finish because mine is the chrome brass version.

What Train2 said is correct the "Swirl" is from the v3 lineup but biggest hint that it is or isn't a v5 is does the beauty ring top part come off?
vivid smoke did an article explaining the difference. But like others have said if it works it works. and like so many others my paint is wearing off too.

Yes, the top beauty ring comes off so I think it must be a V5

The vendor is vapeking.com.au as stated in my previous post.

Cheers
